An original Neil Simon screenplay makes Seems Like Old Times rise above what would otherwise be a forgettable comedy love triangle. Goldie Hawn (Private Benjamin) plays a good-hearted defense lawyer married to Ira, a politically ambitious district attorney played by Charles Grodin (Midnight Run). The craziness of their everyday lives becomes even more ridiculous when ex-husband Chevy Chase is framed for a bank robbery and seeks refuge with the woman he could never get over. Hawn hides the love of her life under her husband's nose as Chase tries to clear his name. Hawn tries to protect him and Grodin just tries to keep from going insane. A slapstick romance that's very often hit-and-miss, the dialogue saves this comic farce and provides wonderful moments between the... I am a huge fan of both Chevy Chase and Jack Palance. This movie is worth-while, for sure. It is Chevy Chase at his best. One of the funniest scenes was with the garage door opener. Right before we watched the movie, we had a new opener installed and had some interesting experiences of our own. So we could relate. I do agree it was almost like a typical National Lampoon movie, but that's what makes it so good. I have seen better Chevy Chase movies, but I've never seen one that I didn't like. Buy it! If you are a true Chevy or Jack fan, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I wasn't! Get it today! Anything can happen on a snow day. So it's too bad the winter's been unseasonably warm, and there's nothing that Chevy Chase--weatherman and father of three--can do about it. But what if it miraculously snowed enough to close the school? Perhaps the oldest son would have a chance to date the most popular girl in school, his sister might have more time to play with him, their mother would act more like a mom and less like a workaholic, and Chase might even be given the chance to be a respected meteorologist who didn't have to wear stupid costumes on the TV news. When the snow does fall, these dreams slowly transform into reality, of course. There are no big surprises in Snow Day, and children will enjoy its genial jokes and good-natured slapstick. Adults may get a kick out... This collection of satirical sketches about television was released in 1974, the heyday of obvious pop-culture humor along the lines Cheech and Chong. With Saturday Night Live still a few years away, Chevy Chase made an appearance here, and one can see the acute sensibility that would redefine television comedy in its early form. Some of the gags work well but most are pretty dispensable; some are a bit crude. On the plus side, it's nice to see Richard Belzer (from TV's Homicide) in his sharp-tongued, formative stage. While not brilliant, the film did serve as one influence on the rise of ironic humor in the '70s. --Tom KeoghMore Info About This DVD Actor(s): Ken Shapiro - Richard Belzer - Chevy Chase Director(s): Ken Shapiro DVD Release Date: Released the 30 May 2000 Usually ships in 24 hours

Chevy Chase dutifully delivered his one-liners, Demi Moore stood around looking beautiful, and Dan Ackroyd (the judge) was unrecognisable and repulsive. John Candy actually had the best part(s) as the cop who hauled Chase and Moore and 2 Brazilionaires before the creepy judge. His other part was as his mute sister who alternated between wanting to hug Chase, cut up cars, and run torture machines.
The main set is a gigantic junkyard with a junky, booby-trapped mansion that the stars bungle through falling over piles of junk trying to escape death.
The overall feeling is too depressing, too warped to be funny. Maybe an 8 year old would laugh at the various farts, removal of body parts, and gross scenes that attempted to add humor to this downer of a film. The two Bazilians... Yet another bad movie in a lengthy string of losers for all three of the principals involved here: director John Landis and stars Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase. Chase and Aykroyd play a pair of bumbling would-be CIA agents who are spotted cheating on the entrance exam. So the CIA decides to use them as bait in a mission to flummox the Russians. Lots of pointless slapstick and mugging, but Landis hasn't made a genuinely funny film since Trading Places. Aykroyd and Chase seem smug and self-satisfied (don't they always?), as though they can rest forever on laurels earned during the 1975 season of Saturday Night Live. Look for a gaggle of film directors (Terry Gilliam, Joel Coen, Costa-Gavras) in cameo roles: that's the closest this film comes to cleverness. --Marshall...
