If you have an appetite for Sicilian soapers, then you're like all those other people who made Mario Puzo's The Last Don the highest Nielsen-rated show for the week in mid-May 1997 when it originally aired. And who could blame you, since the story line of this TV miniseries is chock-full of all the familiar elements that make up a bestseller--power, money, sex, murder, gambling, madness, fame, Hollywood, loyalties made and broken. The story proper begins with a little Romeo and Juliet when Rose Marie, daughter of Don Domenico Clericuzio (Danny Aiello), falls for the youngest son of the warring Santadio family. On their wedding night, Rose Marie's new husband and the entire Santadio family are slaughtered by the Clericuzios to avoid further conflict between the two... Learn More

Hi. I'm Professor Mom Pressfour writing about *Mojave Moon*. Made in 1996, *MM* is a low-budget B-movie that stars Danny Aiello, Anne Archer, Alfred Molina, Michael Biehn, Jack Noseworthy and Angelina Jolie. My review is specific to the Lion's Gate Home Entertainment DVD edition.
After you slip the DVD into your player, the first thing that comes up on your screen is a beautiful intro page that offers you a Start/Scene Selections/Trailers menu. The page's wallpaper is a tasteful animated montage of several movie pans of the nightime Mojave desert. It makes for a lovely background, these moving, blending scenes of sandy landscapes in rich dark hues. Hanging over the wallpaper on the left side of the screen is the bright image of a full moon. The face of a young Angelina... More Info About This DVD Actor(s): Danny Aiello DVD Release Date: Released the 08 February 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

There are spoilers in this review, but you should already know the historical details anyway.
"Ruby" isn't a good movie, but it *almost* was, and long stretches of the movie show us glimpses of the great movie it could have been. These portions of the movie are good enough to be worth owning the DVD for (especially if you enjoyed Oliver Stone's "JFK" for the look and feel of it rather than factual analysis).
The story takes what little is known about Ruby's shady life - that he was a burlesque club owner who had connections to organized crime and the CIA - and riffs on this entertainingly. However, the idea that Ruby's motive for shooting Oswald was "to expose the whole thing" makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, especially knowing that he made no great revelations about the... Dinner Rush is gourmet cinema, served with a generous helping of culinary panache. After countless commercials, music videos (including Michael Jackson's "Beat It"), and a few obscure features, director and restaurateur Bob Giraldi casts his own New York eatery as a TriBeCa hot spot where the owner (Danny Aiello) presides over a busy night of fine dining and mob entanglements. He's been a bookmaker for 25 years but he's going legit; his son (Edoardo Ballerini) is a nuovo cuisine genius, eager to inherit the business; the sous-chef (Kirk Acevedo) is deeply in debt to mafia thugs; an art-dealer snob (Mark Margolis) is antagonizing his waitress (Summer Phoenix); a charming stranger (John Corbett) harbors a climactic surprise; and a powerful food critic (Sandra Bernhard) is... In Jackie Chan's first American movie, Chan and Danny Aiello (Do the Right Thing, Moonstruck) are cops who don't play by the rules. They're sent to Hong Kong to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a wealthy New York scumbag who's mixed up with an insidious heroin kingpin; to investigate, they go to a massage parlor, where the women try to kill them in the middle of providing sexual favors. It's not surprising that the gunplay is mundane, but even Chan's fight sequences are banal and unsurprising. The only entertainment value comes from absurdities, like a band of carjackers dressed like Adam and the Ants, or a sequence where it's revealed that the smuggled heroin is stashed inside of melons--and the stashing process is, inexplicably, performed by naked women. Jackie ...
