Lois & Clark was one of the sweetest surprises of the 1993 television season, and while it certainly enjoyed a devoted following until the series jumped the tall building in its later years, we can probably thank the Phoenix-like rise of Desperate Housewives' Teri Hatcher's career to thank for its arrival on DVD. The premise of Lois & Clark is one fraught with peril, particularly for core fans. This incarnation of the Man of Steel saga recasts Superman as romantic comedy. One of the series creators once described this series as "basically, Moonlighting, only Bruce Willis can fly." This is overstating the case by leaps and bounds. Clark Kent (Dean Cain) has not been reinvented as a wisecracking street-wise hipster. The chemistry between the new Metropolis... Learn More

This must have been a real turkey at the box office. True, Dean is a hunk, and Talia Soto, who played the victimized girlfriend of the Cuban drug lord in LICENSE TO KILL, is good, though she almost always sounds on the verge of tears. Her son, played by Kristian de la Osa, is fine. The casting was wonderful in his case, because he could very easily have been Talia's kid.
What's wrong with the film is that it doesn't know what it's about...or even what kind of movie it is. On one level, it's a straight-ahead drama of an American pilot forced to land in a storm and how he interacts with the locals, including becoming a father-figure to a boy whose mother is attracted to the pilot, despite her being engaged to a planter on whose property the plane lands. Fine. Good enough for one... More Info About This DVD Actor(s): Dean Cain DVD Release Date: Released the 24 November 2003 Special Order

A handsome young aviator named Clay (Dean Cain) makes a forced landing on an isolated island that, over the past hundreds of years, has been invaded by so many different countries the inhabitants speak a mishmash of Spanish, English, and French. There he meets a young boy named Gabriel (Kristian De La Osa), who immediately attaches himself to Clay because his own father disappeared long ago. Unfortunately, this causes a conflict between Clay's beautiful mother, Mercedes (Talisa Soto), and her fiancé, Frank (Miguel Sandoval), a hardworking farmer who unhappily observes Mercedes's attraction to Clay. But even as Gabriel and his mother start to learn more about Clay than they expect, the boy forms a magical friendship with the airplane itself.

Shades of Rollerball! Director Ernest Dickerson and executive producer Wesley Snipes ponder the sport of the future and come up with... Futuresport, a combination of handball, ice hockey, and skateboard hot-dogging begun as an inner-city alternative to gang warfare and transformed into a glitzy media sensation. Dean Cain stars as the reigning Futuresport hero, a cocky glory hound who counts his cash and "popularity index" ratings with a smug grin until his narcissism costs him the championship game. As a ruthless terrorist group pushes the world to the brink of war, the suddenly altruistic Cain hatches a plan to bring Futuresport back to its roots. With the help of reporter (and former flame) Vanessa Williams and the game's creator (a rastah-inflected Snipes, who gives himself the... More Info About This DVD Actor(s): Dean Cain - Vanessa L.
