Something like a perfect artistic union is achieved in the major components of Paris, Texas: the twang of Ry Cooder's guitar, the lonely light of Robbie Muller's camera, the craggy landscape of Harry Dean Stanton's face. In his greatest role, longtime character actor Stanton plays a man brought back to his old life after wandering in the desert (or somewhere) for four years. He has a 7-year-old son to get to know, and his wife has gone missing. The material is much in the wanderlust spirit of director Wim Wenders, working from a script by Sam Shepard and L.M. Kit Carson. If the long climactic conversation between Stanton and Nastassja Kinski renders the movie uneven and slightly inscrutable, it's hard to think of a more fitting ending--and besides, the achingly empty American... "Die, Monster, Die!" : The typical old dark house, the Witley estate, where all the villagers are afraid to go... a family (whose patriarch is played by Boris Karloff) with a few macabre secrets, most of which emanate from a strange crystal-substance from outer space.
This movie finishes nicely, with a rampaging Karloff, transformed by the poisonous substance into an irridescent green fiend, providing the main monster action. But a few lead-up scares aside, it's very dry, with a lot of talky parts which make it drag on quite unnecessarily.
"The Dunwich Horror" : Dean Stockwell as 'Weird Wilbur' Whateley, whose family (no relation to the other films 'Witleys', btw) has long been the scorn of Dunwich, due to their un-Christian beliefs and worship of the 'Old Ones'. ... Dean Stockwell is an assistant press secretery for the stupidest president in U.S. history. On a trip to Transylvania, Stockwell is attacked and wounded by a werewolf. Upon his return, senators and reporters start dying in grizzly ways. Stockwell tries to tell the president and his staff that he's become a murderous lycanthrope, but they'd rather point the finger at those darned "hippies" or make it a racial thing. After all, how could a werewolf story possibly help them politically? WEREWOLF OF WASHINGTON is a political satire disguised as a monster movie. It has it's good moments as well as those moments that make you want to send Dean Stockwell on a REAL quantum leap. Probably best viewed if you're an insomniac and it's 3am... Kim based on Rudyard Kipling's adventure book about the young British boy Kim who has lost both his parents and survives in India through theft, begging, and being a messenger. In addition, a holy man who has made a strong impression on Kim encourages him to stay in school in order to help him seek enlightenment. Fans of the early-'60s sitcom are naturally disappointed by this more juvenile approach to the old concept, which found Navy Captain McHale commanding a merry band of hustlers in the Pacific. Tom Arnold plays the updated title character, and while there's every reason he could have done a fine job, the script eschews the show's tone for something broader and dumber. A lost opportunity, all right, and the original McHale, Ernest Borgnine, appears to give it his blessing with a cameo as Pentagon brass. --Tom KeoghMore Info About This DVD Actor(s): Tom Arnold - Dean Stockwell - Ernest Borgnine Director(s): Bryan Spicer DVD Release Date: Released the 03 June 2003 Usually ships in 24 hours

Psych-Out, weird from the start, but a true classic in every sence of the word. The film has some really good performers in it; the greatly missed Susan Strasberg, who stars as a young deaf lady looking for her brother in San Fransico, Dean Stockwell and Jack Nicholson and others. It has a soundtrack that is outstanding, featuring The Strawberry Alarm Clock and The Seeds and a very important anti drugs message. A film NOT to be missed!
I had never seen The Trip before, Susan Strasberg also appears, though not as prominent as she was in Psych-Out, Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper (always welcome) and Bruce Dern (who has a minor, but pivotal role in Psych-Out). IMHO it's not as well acted as Psych-Out, but it's enjoyable. Another important message about the dangers of drugs. An extremely weird...
