In his book, Robert C. O'Brien called his brave widow mouse "Mrs. Frisby," but Disney escapee animator Don Bluth must have thought kids would laugh the wrong way at that. They renamed her "Mrs. Brisby" for NIMH. That acronym stands for the National Institute of Mental Health, and the rats that live near Mrs. Brisby came from NIMH--they have strange ways. But they're the only ones who can save her house and her children, so Brisby seeks them out with the help of a humorous crow (Dom DeLuise). The magic gets laid on a little thick but this is Don Bluth's most successful attempt to achieve a complete, sincere, animated film. It's often forgotten, but it's a true surprise and a rare treat in the vast wasteland of insubstantial children's fare. --Keith SimantonLearn More

This movie is charming and I couldn't help but be entertained by Dom D.'s acting. He plays a fat man (really he's not that fat in the movie, more like chubby) who struggles with his addiction to food. He goes on a strict diet, but it only fuels his hunger until he falls in love. Dom D. cries a lot in this movie and talks about food a lot. He does a pretty good job of making you hungry. I have to admit that while watching it I had cravings for donuts, cake and ice cream. Dom D. makes the movie worth buying. More Info About This DVD Actor(s): Anne Bancroft - Dom DeLuise Director(s): Anne Bancroft DVD Release Date: 31 December 2025

Don Bluth's An American Tail is based on the story of a young Russian mouse who is separated from his family in America and who later heads with his reunited kin out to the American West. It's pleasant, though not spectacular, and has its greatest problems in story development. Steven Spielberg produced with an eye toward creating animation hits outside of Disney, and he and Bluth certainly took a big step in that direction here. Kids like it a lot, and adults will warm to the sound of various familiar voices, such as Dom DeLuise as Tiger and Madeline Kahn as Gussie Mausheimer. It's also the source of the pop single "Somewhere Out There." --Tom KeoghMore Info About This DVD Actor(s): Dom DeLuise - Christopher Plummer Director(s): Don Bluth DVD Release Date: Released the 20 January 2004 This item is currently not available.

While it pales in comparison to the outstanding animation of its predecessor, Don Bluth's imaginative if somewhat graceless All Dogs Go to Heaven, this 1995 sequel has some nice moments of its own. Charlie Sheen replaces Burt Reynolds as the voice of Charlie Barkin, the afterlife-stranded pooch who sought vengeance against his killer in the previous film but instead discovered the joys of earthly love and community. This time, a bored Charlie, looking for a little adventure, reteams with his old pal Itchy (voiced by Dom DeLuise) to retrieve Gabriel's Horn after it's stolen. Dropping down from Dog Heaven to take on his old nemesis (and killer), Carface (Ernest Borgnine), Charlie falls for a sexy Irish setter (Sheena Easton) and helps a boy caught in a jam. Featuring grand pop songs... I saw this film the first time when I was about nine. I remmember parts of it scared the living daylights out of me. The movie is not bad enough to be R. But I don't think G is apprpprite. This movie was made back when pg-13 was around but was rarely used for animated films since none where consider vulgar enough by the rating bord. It's about a dog named Charlie who works at a Casino in Lousina I believe. Who after breaking out of jail with the help of his friend Ichy a Wenner dog. Is violently murder by his boss a gigantic dog name Careface not wanting to share the casino's profits. Charlie ascend into heaven where he meets Amabell a female dog incarnartion of either jesus or god which one I'm not sure. Charlie wanting revenge on his boss. Secertly resets his watch taking him out...
