After dominating the teen-movie genre for the bulk of the 1980s, writer-producer (and sometimes director) John Hughes proved that he had at least one good movie left in him before squandering his talent on lame comedies throughout the 1990s. Like The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful treated its teenaged characters like real people with real feelings, hopes, fears, and desire. Mary Stuart Masterson gives a great performance as a tomboy drummer named Watts who's secretly in love with her best friend, Keith (Eric Stoltz), an aspiring artist who is oblivious to her affection because he's got a crush on Amanda (Lea Thompson), the popular high school beauty. Watts will even go so far as to chauffeur a date for Keith and Amanda, if only to... Learn More

Chris Walas, the effects whiz who turned Jeff Goldblum into the gooey, grotesque Brundle-Fly in David Cronenberg's The Fly makes his directorial debut in this equally icky sequel. Eric Stoltz is Brundle's genetically diseased offspring, a boy genius brought up in an experimental laboratory by a nefarious foster father eager to see what his inevitable metamorphosis will bring. No surprise here: like father, like son. Daphne Zuniga is his sweet young girlfriend, and John Getz reprises his role from the first film as a bitter alcoholic with a very bad fake beard. This cut-rate "Son of the Fly" knockoff pales next to Cronenberg's classic, degenerating into a gory revenge flick. Walas strains under a limited budget, and many of the more elaborate creatures (a monstrously... Peter Bogdanovich directed this sensitive and moving story about a teenage boy, Rocky (Eric Stoltz), who lives with severe facial deformities and poor prognosis for survival beyond childhood. The film concentrates on that threshold-of-adulthood period familiar to past and present 16-year-olds, folding together common experiences of youth (love, hassles with mom, a desire to travel) with the special burdens endured by the hero. Stoltz, absolutely unrecognizable under lots and lots of prosthetic makeup, is quite good, as are Cher (as Rocky's mother) and Sam Elliott (Rocky's father figure). More than a tearjerker, the film is a genuine celebration of all that is most precious in life, even more to those who have nothing to take for granted. --Tom KeoghMore Info About This DVD Actor(s): Cher - Sam Elliott - Eric Stoltz Director(s): Peter Bogdanovich DVD Release Date: Released the 07 September 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours

This is a good movie, but the final 15 minutes are almost pure genius. the story comes to an emotional head, with some great dialogue, and superb acting, but Tarantino nearly steals the show with his cameo. Ever wondered why Top Gun is the greatest script in the history of Hollywood? If so watch this film! I got this film by default as it was coupled with the "Legend of 1900" in a 2-DVD pack. I thought goodie ... I really like Tim Roth and in "1900" he is sparkiling, brilliant and ultimately very moving.
The opening music of "Bodies..." is about the best thing about the movie, and it keeps coming back throughout the film, which is a plus (stops you chucking things at the TV out of frustration anyway).
The rest of the movie is a complete pile of pants. The characters are universally unlikeable. Roth seems to try his best with the rubbish script but fails as he has least likeable character of the bunch. You come away not knowing or caring about any of them. Absolutley nothing happens in the movie (unless you count a totally gratuitous 'get your kit off' sex scene...
