Like The Gumball Rally (1976) before it, former stuntman Hal Needham's The Cannonball Run was inspired by the same real-life cross-country road race. If The Gumball Rally was the critical favorite, The Cannonball Run was the box-office favorite (spawning the almost-as-successful sequel, Cannonball Run II, a few years later). Aside from top-billed stars Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise (stars of Needham's Smokey and the Bandit series) plus Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. (as horny priests), the movie features many of the same actors (Bert Convy, Jamie Farr) that could be found on a typical '80s episode of The Love Boat (along with the same caliber of writing). But as the tagline notes, "You'll never guess who wins"--and it's true. As in most... Learn More

This controversial, 1984 made-for-television movie gave Farrah Fawcett her first true showcase as an actress. Playing an abused wife who kills her monstrous husband (Paul Le Mat), Fawcett demonstrates a facility with the moral ambiguities of the story, which concerns the painful but fascinating questions of where justice lies. Fine support from Richard Masur and Grace Zabriskie, and the assured direction is by Robert Greenwald (Xanadu. --Tom KeoghMore Info About This DVD Actor(s): Farrah Fawcett - Paul Le Mat Director(s): Robert Greenwald DVD Release Date: Released the 07 September 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours

America's guiltiest pleasure of 1976--the inaugural season of Charlie's Angels--has returned in all its jiggly, jolly glory in this tidy boxed set. It's hard to describe just how captivated the nation's media and viewing public were with cheesemeister Aaron Spelling's ABC-TV hit, but for awhile Charlie's Angels was wildly popular appointment television at its most self-consciously banal. The first season's three (and best-remembered) belles--lioness Farrah Fawcett (then Farrah Fawcett-Majors), pin-up babe Jaclyn Smith, and Thinking Man's beauty Kate Jackson--were something like primetime Spice Girls, gracing countless magazine covers and bestselling posters. The idea (even if a fan of the show didn't happen to be a straight male) was that one was compelled to choose a... As a Chevy Chase comedy, Man of The House is far from his funniest; however, it works well as a family drama.
The story's sort of an inverted "Courtship of Eddie's Father." In this case it's the boy's mother (Farrah Fawcett) who is single, and the boy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas of Home Improvement, Tom and Huck, etc.) is wary of her new fiancee, a prosecutor named Sturges (Chase). Still feeling burnt by his ex-dad, the boy tries everything to get rid of the prospective one. Some of this is funny, like when he paints Sturges's face with Indian war paint that won't come off, and the parts that aren't funny are still interesting and help develop the characters and story. I think the film is most effective in that it demonstrates the persistence of faith necessary to build a family,... Farrah Fawcett and James Russo are outstanding for the characters they portray. The movie description: James Russo is a serial rapist and Farrah Fawcett plays the victim who manages to escape her would be (masked) rapist in the beggining of the movie. However, he still has her purse carrying her personal information and address. Marjorie goes to the police to report her attempted rape and the police inform her "it would be hard to press charges on an unknown assailant" Basically James Russo returns a week or so later back into Marjorie's life at her home to finish what he started. (now he is unmasked, and enters her home). The scenes are brutal: however if you manage to stomach Farrah Fawcett being attacked mentally, and physically you will then witness how she manages to turn the tables...
