Andromeda, back in its final season with a bang! Sure the show lost a chunk of the budget that they have had with previous seasons but that doesn't stop the writers from coming up with a nice season long story arc which delivers! Any sci-fi fan with a love of action should add this volume to their collection. Andromeda just plain ROCKS! (4 stars because we should be on collection 5 by NOW!) Like season 3, season 4 also had a few bad episodes that were very confusing. There was an overuse of clips of previous episodes as a storytelling device, and some shows, like the first episode, had deus-ex-machina endings that came out of nowhere. The season gets better as it goes, with many of the finest episodes ("Trusting the Gordian Maze", "Time out of Mind") on the last disk. The final episode is very touching, and would have been a fine ending to the series if there was no season 5.
In the first two years Tyr served as the realist/anarchist foil to Dylan's idealism/community building. In season 4 Dylan was more the Hercules-style adventurer and moralist. To serve as a partner, Telemachus Rhade was added as a regular. While a Nietzschean, he was multi-faceted and... Syndication TV production. Rather a big title with not much to it. The shows are genreally shot on alightly larger budgets then most regualer network shows are, put on the air at different days of the weeks and generally have no network to answer for. Not much difference in show quality. The stories are genreally not very good and the acting always seems medicore at best. Kevin Sorbo is actually not bad in this role, a now regular guest star at comic book conventions. He is not a bad actor and this show actually gives him a change to be a bit more three dimensional. But the fellow cast members have no such luck while the effects work looks so CGish for the small screen. Andromeda is an incredable series, and a great replacement for the 'Star Trek' series now that they're off the air.
It's always expected that the series will come out in box sets after the individual disks are released, so why be so impatient to get them all individually like that.
Andromeda is really good, and especially this season because we glimps a little more into the mysterious Trance Gemini. More Info About This DVD Actor(s): Gene Roddenberry DVD Release Date: Released the 27 July 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours

Most reviews I've scanned for this product take fire at the storylines like the writers just woke up one day and decided to change everything. Whereas in fact, business got in the way.
E:FC suffered over the years due to budgetary constraints, but season five had very, very tight constraints. Hence most of the cast are removed to make way for cheaper alternatives, and even some of those don't see the whole season through.
And the writers tried, they really did, to keep this show going in terms of quality. Against very tough conditions, they created a season that isn't too bad. It has some interesting aliens in form of the Atavus, and has some great guest appearances (of particular note is Margot Kidder). It also has some nice continuity with the preceeding four...
