DVD Elektra (Unrated Director's Cut)

While 2003's Daredevil was a conventional superhero movie, the 2005 spinoff, Elektra, is more of a wuxia-styled martial arts/fantasy flick. Elektra (Jennifer Garner) has returned to her life as a hired assassin, but she balks at an assignment to kill a single father (Goran Visnjic, ER) and his teenage daughter (Kirsten Prout). That makes her the target of the Hand, an organization of murderous ninjas, scheming corporate types, and a band of stylish supervillains seeking to eliminate Elektra and tip the balance of power in the ongoing battle of good vs. evil.

As the star of Alias, Garner has proven that she can kick butt with the best of them, and some of the visual effects are impressive, but the action sequences tend to be anticlimactic, and... Learn More

Close Your Eyes

This psychological horror starring Goran Visnjic and made by BBC Films is basically in the same vein as Stir Of Echoes, but has a completely different story. It concerns a murder case involving an (or maybe a group of) occultists who are kidnapping children for evil purposes.
Goran's character is a hypnotist who is ropped into helping a female police detective question a young, now mute, girl(who was the last captive child but escaped)to find clues to the case; He's also suffering from insomnia (altering his sense of reality) and was involved in the drowning of his former patient back in the States.
To provide a change for themselves, the hypnotist, his pregnant wife and young daughter have moved to London and aren't finding life any more pleasant than back home.
It's a very... More Info About This DVD

The Deep End

Vintage film noir gets a confidently stylish upgrade in this subtle domestic thriller, intensified by Tilda Swinton's acclaimed performance as a mother who risks everything to protect her family. Adapted from Elisabeth Sanxay Holding's story The Blank Wall (previously filmed as 1949's The Reckless Moment), the film's gripping plot commences with Margaret (Swinton), a naval officer's wife and mother of three, disposing of the body of a sleazy club owner, who died in an accident after a confrontation with Margaret's closeted gay son. Maternal instinct shifts into high gear when a blackmailer (Goran Visnjic) demands $50,000 to withhold incriminating evidence, and his unspoken feelings provoke an unexpectedly compassionate alliance. Compelling plot twists aside, The Deep... More Info About This DVD
