He heads to the nearby sandlot only to humiliate himself before the local kids, but star player Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez befriends the awkward boy, teaches him the basics of baseball, and welcomes him to the team. It's a summer filled with camaraderie and fun until Smalls hits his first home run. Problem is, Smalls's home run sends his stepfather's "Babe Ruth" autographed baseball into a neighboring yard that's patrolled by a snarling, slobbering monster called "The Beast." This movie is the worst movie that has ever been made. You hear people make those kind of statements all the time, and they are usaully just thrown around for the sake of emphasis. Make no mistake, when I say this movie is the worst movie of all time, I am dead serious. From now on if someone ever asks me what my least favorite movie is, I will tell them, The Sandlot 2.
I really have no idea what the makers of this movie were trying to accomplish with this film. The plot is essentially exactly the same as the first. The first Sandlot by the way was an excellent movie and I highly reccommend it to ANYONE. This 1994 update on the Lassie legend stars Thomas Guiry as a troubled city kid whose family retreats to the country, where he befriends the famous collie and changes for the better. Conflict develops when a ruthless sheep rancher causes trouble for everyone. Director Daniel Petrie (The Bay Boy) aims only to revive the healthy spirit of previous Lassie films (and the television series) in a new milieu, and toward those modest ambitions--predictable plot and all--he succeeds. Guiry is unusually good in what many young actors would have taken to be just another blossoming-teen part. --Tom KeoghMore Info About This DVD Actor(s): Tom Guiry - Helen Slater Director(s): Daniel Petrie DVD Release Date: Released the 13 May 2003 Usually ships within 24 hours
