DVD Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)

Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. - The Complete First Season

Though I must agree with a previous review about the later seasons being a bit better, Season 1 certainly has it's merits, and is worth the price of admission. How much better does it get to see Pyle and Sgt. Carter come back from a survival course and actually gain weight? Or getting stuck on a transcontinental flight, being declared AWOL, and then becoming a hero? Character development is a consistent trait in the first season of most shows. Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. is no exception, but it's still fun to watch. More Info About This DVD

That's My Mama - The Complete Second Season

If you liked That's My Mama season 1, I would also recommend following up with That's My Mama season 2. A few things have changed: Earl is now a co-barber at Clifton's barber shop, and Junior is now in college. The opening credits and ending credits changed as well, featuring a tune by Lamont Dozier. The plotlines are fairly good and consistant with the first season, and the show continues to have a strong cast. My only problem was that I kinda missed Earl as a mailman, as that was his more funny role when he dropped by the barber shop to deliver mail.

Season 2 is much shorter than the first season, only 13 episodes on 2 discs in slimline cases (9 episodes on disc 1 and 4 episodes on disc 2). The quality is about the same as the first season, but slightly better. More Info About This DVD

My Favorite Martian - The Complete First Season

MY FAVORITE MARTIAN is probably not in your list of the top ten sitcoms of the sixties.Upon watching the 37 episodes of this first year,i must say that it comes close in my list.It is not the special effects that makes the show, but the chemistry between BILL BIXBY and RAY WALSTON.Perhaps because i watched too many episodes at once,i prefer the early ones to the last ones.Among the guest stars are BERNIE KOPPELL,MARLO THOMAS,TOM SKERRITT and ALAN HALE.It seems to me that the novelty of the show wears out near the end of season1.Nevertheless,i must say that i liked many episodes like HOW TO BE A HERO WITHOUT REALLY TRYING and MY NEPHEW,THE ARTIST to name only two.Should you buy this set?Yes,but only if you like chocolate brownies... The Jeff Foxworthy Show - The Complete First Season

Personable comedian Jeff Foxworthy seemed a likely candidate in the 1990s to get his own situation comedy on television; thus was born The Jeff Foxworthy Show in '95, lasting two years. The Complete First Season includes the series' initial 18 episodes, which have much to recommend them despite obvious signs the program never quite figured out what is was about. Year 1 can easily be divided between pre-Jay Mohr episodes and everything after actor-comedian Mohr (Saturday Night Live) joined the cast as Wayne, a younger, wilder redneck brother of Jeff. (Foxworthy's character, like Jerry Seinfeld on Seinfeld, is named after the star.) The pre-Mohr episodes are simple domestic comedies focusing on Foxworthy's nuclear family: wife Karen (Anita Barone), a wry and... More Info About This DVD

Don Knotts 4 Movie Reluctant Hero Pack (The Ghost And Mr. Chicken / The Reluctant Astronaut / The Shakiest Gun In The West / The Love God?)

Enjoyed the Reluctant Hero pack very much, despite DVD region problems. These movies have good American humour - and I also enjoyed watching the simple, wholesome culture of life back then. I also think Don Knotts displays a sad side to his characters sometimes which is quite moving. More Info About This DVD

The Ghost And Mr. Chicken

Remember watching this silly little comedy from your childhood? It may not have aged all that well, but is still goofy, good fun. Okay, so you can spot the stunt double, and Don Knotts's twitches are a little more obvious. Still, fans of his familiar routines will be comforted in knowing they can again watch their skinny underdog hero solve the ghost story while winning the prettiest girl in town. Knotts plays a trembling typesetter hoping to become a reporter by cracking the mystery of the local haunted house. To do so, he must spend a night there. Good-hearted, non-threatening, and completely gooey, this is the equivalent of light-weight cinematic junk food. -- Rochelle O'Gorman More Info About This DVD
