Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

I began collecting volumes of the Twilight Zone after watching the Twilight Zone Marathon over the New Year's holiday. Though the volumes (which are much more affordable) only consist of individual episodes and not the chronological order episodes that are found on collective editions (which are more costly), have some of the best episodes on just one volume. To me, Volume 11 was the best especially the episode with the Talky Tina Doll, where she kills the mean, unloving stepfather simply because he didn't care for the doll or his stepdaughter.
Another great episode on this volume is The After Hours. This episode tells the tale of a shopper who buys a gold thimble on an empty floor of a department store. Unbeknownst to her, this is the floor where they keep the store... I hate in the ep Stopover In A Quiet Town when they are panning to Rod Serling you can see the studio background showing the house Bob and Millie Frazier are in is really a studio. They pan in a similar way in the ep about the old lady getting the strange phonecalls, too. Other than the eps are usually great (unless they're sappy like Kick The Can).About Adam West (Batman). Yes he was never on the original TZ and what a pity! He was perfect for the TZ. In one ep Caesar and Me, Stafford Repp (later Chief O'Hara on Batman with Adam West) was in it. There is a character in Caesar and Me named Jonathon WEST! Also the name in the title Caesar, a Dummy (like Caesar Romero who played the Joker on Batman!) and this Caesar tells jokes! Was the writer of Caesar and Me psychic? I believe so! If... At least one of the episodes collected on volume 15 of The Twilight Zone DVD offerings is an all-time classic--if by classic we mean the kind of show that still produces a shudder of recognition years after viewing. This is "The Midnight Sun," an apocalyptic tale in which a cosmic event has hurled the earth toward the sun, sending the thermometer to 120 degrees and the population into despair. Aside from the twist ending and the attractive sweating of Lois Nettleton, what's likely to be remembered from this episode, is the haunting image of an oil painting melting with the heat. Other episodes in this collection, all scripted by series creator Rod Serling, emphasize bravura acting. In "Escape Clause," gracefully directed by Hollywood pro Mitchell Leisen, the whimsical David... This is one of the best Twilight Zone episode pack DVDs. Three of the four episodes included are of superior caliber, and even the weak one, "King Nine Will Not Return" is still watchable. If you think AMERICAN IDOL, THE O.C., or THE WEST WING are complex television programs, get this and prepare to be floored!
THE REPORT CARD:
Perchance to Dream: A (Writer Charles Beaumont's first contribution to the series, and this creepy episode is certainly a candidate for one of the finest episodes of all time)
Shadow Play: A (a great companion piece to 'Perchance to Dream'...what a performance from Dennis Weaver and the supporting cast!!)
King Nine Will Not Return: C+ (not one of the better episodes, but is still a decent way to kill a half-hour)

The common thread for the four episodes offered in Volume 17 of "The Twilight Zone" DVD series would be disagreeable people meeting get their just deserts. In "What You Need," adapted by Rod Serling from the short story by Lewis Padgett (a.k.a. Henry Kuttner and C. L. Moore), has cheap thug Fred Renard (Steve Cox) encounter a sidewalk salesman named Pedott (Ernest Truex), who has the unusual gift of knowing exactly what people needed before they need it. When Pedott gives Renard a pair of scissors that end up saving his life, the petty little criminal sees an opportunity to take advantage of Pedott's gift. "What's in the Box," written by Martin M. Goldsmith, offers William Demarest and Joan Blondell as Joe and Phyllis Britt, a most unhappily married couple. After Joe insults a...
