Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

This is another one of many television series from the 1950s and 1960s that is awaiting an official studio release. Were it not for "public domain" releases like this three-episode, single-disc DVD from Alpha Video, we might not be able to see some of the television classics from TV's "golden age" on DVD. So, in this regard, I appreciate the fact that at least a few episodes are available. As to the episodes themselves, the three included here are all from the 1960s when John McIntire starred as Wagonmaster Chris Hale. They include "The Doctor Denker Story," "The Malachai Hobart Story," and "Alias Bill Hawks." These episodes, either alone or in various combinations, have been available on a few Western TV compilations, but this is one of the very few DVDs where you can get all three... I haven't actually seen this (yes, I know, "0 out of 27 people found this review helpful"), but fans of Harrison Ford will want to know about it because it's his first movie role. It's actually a James Coburn flick, and a very young Ford has about one line as an uncredited bellhop. As I write this, I don't see any mention in the Amazon.com listing about Ford's presence, so I thought I'd post the info for Ford completists. As far as I know, this is also the first time this has been available on home video. Not a great film - good ideas, but it should either have either been expanded or stripped down to a BBC TV play. Joss Ackland and Ronny Cox both give the expected quality performances as the misguided scientist and the terminal cancer patient who is given ecstasy (with a small e) as the way out of personality problems. But the reason you'll buy this DVD is the young Christopher Walken. ... Combine this performance with that in the Anderson Tapes and it is easy to see why he could have been up for Han Solo or the lead in Love Story. Charisma, intelligence, phwoaar and acting ability. He makes it all look so easy......... More Info About This DVD Director(s): Bernard Girard DVD Release Date: Released the 11 February 2003 Usually ships within 24 hours

In the early 1960s director Robert Aldrich teamed aging stars Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in a suspense thriller called "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" The movie was a smash hit. Two or three years later he brought the two actresses back for "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte". Crawford dropped out and was replaced by Olivia De Havilland. Again, Aldrich struck pay dirt. In 1969 his production company made yet another such movie, "Whatever Happened to Aunt Alice?", starring Geraldine Page and Ruth Gordon. This was directed by Lee H. Katzin. I don't think it was as successful at the boxoffice, but the important thing is that Alice is almost as much fun as Jane and Charlotte.
Page plays Claire, a woman of sixty or so. In the opening scenes she finds out that her recently deceased husband...
