Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

Light years before political correctness--1983 to be exact--or his comeback in tame Disney comedies, Eddie Murphy was a charismatic, wonderfully offensive, egocentric 22-year-old black comedian known for crude celebrity impersonations and often shockingly frank diatribes on racial and sexual politics. Dressed in a skin-tight red leather suit and delivering endless streams of obscenities faster than Richard Pryor ever did, Murphy is captured in this raunchy HBO special (a filmed document of his Grammy-winning album, Eddie Murphy, Comedian) at his confident, swaggering, comedic peak--a posture that soon disappeared after a string of bland Hollywood comedies. Here, however, his energy and sheer virtuosity command complete control over the audience for 107 minutes, whether he's mocking... This is a great show, but the makers of this DVD completely disregarded any english-speaking deaf or hard of hearing viewers. There are subtitles in Spanish and French--gee thanks. My sister is deaf and loves this show. I bought her the DVD as a surprise. Now she can't really watch it. What a disappointment. My family and I are not really true fans of this show, because we would rather watch anything else but people singing for a wasted hour. But we always wait at the beginning of the year to watch the auditions hoping that we would laugh so hard at the singers' performances (Love that William Hung audition). And we did. Just a few months ago, though, Fox was airing an AI program called the "World's Worst Auditions", which lasted only an hour. As of today now, I've heard that they are going to release a "worst of" DVD that has TWO AND A HALF hours worth of material! That has really got to make a perfect Christmas gift now!
heheh, one of the advantages of knowing the people I do is that I get to sneak peeks at different DVD's..hehehe...well I've seen this one.
All I can really tell you is that the Best of is just like you'd expect. You see the best performances, the best moments on a jam...and i mean JAM packed DVD (seriously between both discs 1 and 2 and the bonus disc I'm not sure If I have enough time to watch everything on it!)! On the worst of I found myself trying not too look because of how horrid some people are. It's just sad to a degree to watch these people croak, scream, and cry their way through a song (my fave is Simon's comment after the girl with the Puppets sing "I'm tempted to put the dog through!").
