Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

I brought all three 2 disc Star Wars to my brothers house. Guess what he has. That's right an LCD WIDESCREEN HDTV. And I'll bet you dont know what im going to say next. Here goes. The pixel resolution and aspect ratio arguments hold absolutely no water whatsoever. Both versions are presented in the same 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The same comparative differences I wrote for glass tube television, applies to WIDESCREEN TV as well. That's right the picture looks and sounds great for both versions. Vivid color for the enhanced (that's why it's called enhanced). And a requirement of slight color tweaking if it bothers you, for the theatrical versions. You have a choice here. You can purchase these movies and risk the possibility of bad picture quality, which just isnt so. Or you can listen to the... "Raid on Entebbee" was released shortly after are more hastily released version recounting these events came out -- "Victory on Entebbee." It" is hard to say which version is better (I like them both). I suppose this is simply a matter of taste.
This version of the audacious rescue of hostages held when highjackers working for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine boarded and high-jacked an Air France plane stopped in Athens, enroute to Paris from Tel-Aviv, recounts accurately the events and response of the Israeli government to another example of the outrageous terror war being perpetrated against Israel (and now many other countries). It is fast moving, action packed, and has an excellent musical score. Peter Finch stars as Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin, with... With the surprise success--both critical and commercial--of Robocop, it was inevitable that a sequel would emerge (actually, two sequels). But this follow-up lacked the dyspeptically funny vision of filmmaker Paul Verhoeven and wound up skimming the surface to repeat only the most superficial elements of the original: the big, clunky hero (played by Peter Weller), the ultra-violence (minus a dark sense of humor), and the plethora of action sequences. What plot there is deals with the corporation that runs the cops and its two-pronged attempt to squeeze every dime out of the populace and the city: create a new drug crisis (with an incredibly addictive synthetic drug the corporation manufactures, spread by a charismatic drug lord) and then attack with a bigger robot, one that... I was happy to see that my DVD of LOVING showed up yesterday. It's a great, little known, film that stands, I think, as a "missing link" between such European classics as LA NOTTE and later Hollywood films like AMERICAN BEAUTY and THE ICE STORM. The transfer is nice and the sound fine. The trouble is that for such an expensive DVD, there is a startling lack of extras. In fact I've never seen a DVD with LESS extras. While there are chapter stops and English subtitles-which they'd have to do anyway for the deaf and hard of hearing-there are no subtitles in any other language, there's no original trailer for the film, no filmographies, and no commentary tracks. This latter omission is puzzling considering the director Irvin Kershner is still with us, as are the film's two stars (George Segal... Though not as successful as What's Up, Doc? or The Way We Were, Up the Sandbox springs from the early 1970s, when Barbra Streisand's career was in full stride. Streisand stars as Margaret, a stay-at-home mom in the middle of New York who's feeling the strain of her narrow life. Frustrated by her self-involved husband and the emotionally rewarding but mentally unstimulating tasks of motherhood, she escapes into fantasies--such as being hit on by a cross-gendered Fidel Castro, bombing the Statue of Liberty with black militants, and having a furious catfight with her overbearing mother. The movie's strength lies in these fantasies' slippery nature; some are over the top, but others are so subtle you're not always sure where they start and stop, making the...
