DVD Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)

Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. The Waltons - The Complete First Season

The Waltons' nearly 10-year run on network television grew out of the popular, 1971 made-for-TV movie The Homecoming, which was derived from a Depression-era, rustic setting ("Walton's Mountain"), and characters based on Earl Hamner Jr.'s autobiographical novel Spencer's Mountain--itself the source for a very nice 1963 feature film starring Henry Fonda and Maureen O'Hara. Spook Who Sat By the Door

This story is a strong representation of a book that captured the imagination of many urban African Americans in the late 1960s. The U.S. and local governments were actively moving against Black Americans in the same spirit as U.S. governments now move to implement Homeland Security. The movie and the book that it is based on reflect the reality based paranoia that many educated African Americans experienced. The Spook who sat by the Door is not meant to be realistic about how successful Black revolution was. It portrayed the narrowed range of realistic alternatives that African Americans face when your govenment has declared war on its own minorities. More Info About This DVD
