DVD Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)

Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

The Addams Family - Volume One

If The Munsters was a traditional family sitcom as reimagined by Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, The Addams Family is a macabre twist on Father Knows Best. The Munster and Addams clans made their TV debuts in 1964 and lasted two seasons before the networks buried them. The Addamses are now gloriously resurrected in this three-disc set that digs up the series' first 22 episodes (oddly, 12 shy of the complete first season). Inspired by Charles Addams's New Yorker cartoons, The Addams Family is fiendishly funny, with a dead-on cast that indelibly embodies Addams's characters. John Astin brings a demented glee to eccentric, frighteningly wealthy Gomez Addams. Carolyn Jones is bewitching as his pre-goth wife, Morticia, whom the Beatles might... More Info About This DVD

Wagon Train:TV Classics

This is another one of many television series from the 1950s and 1960s that is awaiting an official studio release. Were it not for "public domain" releases like this three-episode, single-disc DVD from Alpha Video, we might not be able to see some of the television classics from TV's "golden age" on DVD. So, in this regard, I appreciate the fact that at least a few episodes are available. As to the episodes themselves, the three included here are all from the 1960s when John McIntire starred as Wagonmaster Chris Hale. They include "The Doctor Denker Story," "The Malachai Hobart Story," and "Alias Bill Hawks." These episodes, either alone or in various combinations, have been available on a few Western TV compilations, but this is one of the very few DVDs where you can get all three... Madron

A very disappointing film starring one of the better western actors. It is such a comedown for Richard Boone of the "Have Gun Will Travel" fame. Boone probably did this project because he needs the money or just becuase he needs to do something. The film is a pathethic and boring excuse for a western which is neither spaghetti or whatever. It is sad to see a legend like Boone to take on something trashy as this project. The blurry, fuzzy, and hazy picture quality is just as bad as the story. I don't recommend this to anyone including fans of Richard Boone. More Info About This DVD
