Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

Cheers to Fox for even putting Greg the Bunny on the air, and jeers to Fox for yanking it after a mere season (an ignominious fate it shared with The Ben Stiller Show and Andy Richter Controls the Universe). Ripe for discovery, this cult-worthy 2002 series took its cue from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and anticipated the subversive Tony Award-winning Muppet spoof Avenue Q by imagining a world in which puppets (or, to be more PC: "fabricated Americans") live amongst humans. Greg, a sweet-natured bunny, lives with his best friend Jimmy (Seth Green), a slacker whose father, Gil (the inestimable Eugene Levy), is the director of the "struggling," "low-rated" children's show Sweetknuckle Junction. Greg prevails upon Jimmy to get him a job on the show, but... The 2003 Friars Club-style roast of actor-comedian Denis Leary was the highest-rated program in the history of the Comedy Central network (after South Park) thanks to its barrage of raunchy and frequently hilarious routines from top comics and Hollywood stars. Leary himself produced this special (the first of several proposed for the network), which was taped at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, and good-naturedly withstands a salty "tribute" from fellow stand-ups Jeff Garlin (who also handles host duties), Colin Quinn, Mario Cantone, and Lenny Clarke, among others. Jon Stewart, Conan O'Brien, and Christopher Walken also weigh in via videotape, and Leary's fellow Emerson College alumnus Gina Gershon contributes a Broadway/burlesque musical number. At 90 minutes, the jokes come... More Info About This DVD Director(s): John Fortenberry DVD Release Date: Released the 03 August 2004 Usually ships in 24 hours

This is one of Pauly Shore's better movies. Makes me think of something Sandler would do well at too. The movie finds Shore struggling for a place to live let alone his personal problems. When the chance to extend a court case that looks open and shut comes available he fillerbusters the jury into keeping the case going. His antics will make you laugh.
Only one problem here as I see it. This is not worth more than ten dollars on DVD. Sorry as much as I enjoyed it there are a great number of comedies I can buy for less than ten dollars, so I will pass on buying it until they lower the price. For its brief and shining moment--12 aired episodes, to be exact--The Ben Stiller Show, which aired on Fox in 1992, recaptured the anarchic spirit and subversively funny voice of first-season Saturday Night Live and SCTV. More too-hip-for-the-room than ahead of its time, the show suffered dismal ratings and was unceremoniously cancelled. It then went on to win an Emmy for best writing and attract a fervent following, enhanced by the fact that the series has seldom been syndicated. This long-awaited DVD release fills not a void, but an abyss. To watch Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, Andy Dick, and a pre-Mr. Show Bob Odenkirk at the dawn of their mostly unconventional careers, romp in the show's opening is akin to watching the Beatles frolic on that football field in... Yes, I think Spin City was the best funny sitcom ever. It's one of the very few clever humor series I've seen in half a century of TV watching. I love Seinfeld, Goodness Gracious Me was hilarious and very smart too, but Spin City never failed to make me laugh my head out and still feel intelligent !
But... the production who decided to issue but a few chosen episodes on a couple of DVD must have been the dummiest bunch of executives to work for a TV channel. They probably got fired since such a stupid decision certainly ended up in a financial failure (who wants a best of of the best ?) but the guys still in place probably decided not to issue the complete seasons because these didn't sell !
So here I am, frustrated as, I guess, thousands of Spin City fans who will hope and... More Info About This DVD Actor(s): Michael J.
