Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. Want Sci-Fi action and adventure? Want a plot about companies messing with your mind? Wamt facsinating scenes of Mars? Well you'll find it all here, and all taken directly from Total Recall, but this movie isn't as good as it's namesake.
Yeah, all five sconds of the scenery on Mars is borrowed directly from Arnolds action packed adventure. What's more, after seeing the mysterious VTOL looking craft (Same as in TOTAL RECALL) go into a bunker, you get to see inside the bunker, where our passenger disembark from what looks like a Mercury landing capsule!
OK, other intersting point, there was no reason whatsoeever for the movie to have set that scene on Mars. It could just as well have happened in Nevada, or Brazil, or even downtown London.
Concluding the cliffhanger from the end of Stargate SG-1's first season, "The Serpent's Lair" is a rollercoaster of wit, plot twists, and cutting-edge special effects as the SG-1 team resign themselves to a suicide mission. Then it's a case of ignorance of the law being no excuse in "Prisoners," as they wind up in a penal colony striking a deal with someone who will have a far-reaching influence on their future. In "In the Line of Duty," Sam is stalked by an assassin after a rescue mission. She saves someone in the most unique of ways--by taking over as host of their Goa'uld symbiont. This introduction of Jolinar is a key to much of the continuing story line. Dwight Schultz guest stars in "The Gamekeeper" in a garden that forces the team to puzzle their way out of reliving secrets... Teal'c gets stung by a giant insect in "Bane," and Colonel Jack O'Neill is crippled in "Spirits." The best episodes are the two parts of "The Tok'ra." Captain Samantha Carter's estranged father is dying of cancer, but her obligations sway her toward saving a member of the Goa'uld renegade Tok'ra who is also dying. Although the resolution may seem apparent a mile off, the series takes one of many brave steps in not chickening out at the last moment. There may only be preliminary goodwill established between Earth and the rebels, but the dangling thread bodes well. In "Touchstone" the team is accused of stealing a gem from the planet Madrona that controls its climate. The revelation of who really stole it causes ripples in the pond back on Earth. --Paul TonksMore Info About This DVD Director(s): Martin Wood - Mario Azzopardi - Amanda Tapping - Jim Kaufman - Ken Girotti DVD Release Date: Released the 04 February 2003 Usually ships within 24 hours
