DVD Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)

Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

Battlestar Galactica (2003 Miniseries)

Despite voluminous protest and nitpicking criticism from loyal fans of the original 1978-80 TV series, the 2003 version of Battlestar Galactica turned out surprisingly well for viewers with a tolerance for change. Originally broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel in December 2003 and conceived by Star Trek: The Next Generation alumnus Ronald D. Moore as the pilot episode for a "reimagined" TV series, this four-hour "miniseries" reprises the basic premise of the original show while giving a major overhaul (including some changes in gender) to several characters and plot elements. Gone are the flowing robes, disco-era hairstyles, and mock-Egyptian fighter helmets, and thankfully there's not a fluffy "daggit" in sight... at least, not yet. Also missing are the "chrome toaster" Cylons,... More Info About This DVD

Queen of the Damned (Widescreen Edition)

This movie would have been a mediocre silent film.
Instead it's a holocaust of brain cells.
I don't know where you get an MTV music video lacking plot or cohesion from possibly one of the most complex and entertaining books of all time. More Info About This DVD

Allie & Me

So glad this film is finally getting a release. I had seen it at a festival some two years ago. Fantastic performances by Joanne Baron and most surprisingly of all Harry Hamlin (who I've never been a big fan of). Also, has Lainie Kazan of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Beaches fame. An improv film that doesn't feel like its improved. If you like Christopher Guest type comedies you'll love this film. More Info About This DVD

Queen of the Damned/Interview with the Vampire

ok interview with a vampire is definitely one of the best vampire movies ever. queen of the damned wasn't so hot. the only good thing about the movie was aaliyah's performance. it's true she certainly did have limitless potential. it was like when she released one in a million. it was a huge step from age ain't nothing but a number and then when "aaliyah" was released it was a huge step from one in a million. she had the same affect on the big screen that she did in music. watching queen of the damned, i couldn't believe that was the same young woman who was in romeo must die. she was a great talent on the brink of superstardom and will be greatly missed. Perfume

This movie was absolutely terrible. They were trying to work the whole "artsy" angle, you know- New York and fashion mixed with culture. I didn't even know when I started to watch the movie that the actors were improving, but I didn't need to- it was a dead give-a-way! The actors had uncomfortable silences almost in a "Curb Your Enthusiasm" way, but no where near entertaining. Let me just roll my eyes and say "Find a (good) script and stick to it!"
