Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

Wonderfalls is probably the most hilarious show you've never seen. An hour-long "dramedy" about a young woman who hears the voices of inanimate objects--which instruct her to help out total strangers--the show aired on Fox in early 2004 to critical acclaim and dismal ratings. After airing four times in terrible time slots, the show was quickly canceled, but not before a hue and cry from a small but fervently devoted cadre of fans went up, begging for all 13 episodes to be released on DVD. Thus, the highest-profile DVD release of a canceled show was born, and the nine unaired episodes of Wonderfalls are finally seeing the light of day.
A very atypical mother-daughter relationship is at the center of Gilmore Girls, a comedy-drama that immediately set itself apart from the herd with smarter-than-smart dialogue and an endearing mix of whimsical comedy and family drama. Set in the Capra-esque burg of Stars Hollow, where everybody knows everyone and eccentrics abound, Gilmore Girls was less a mother-daughter show and more of a screwball buddy comedy in which the two buddies happened to be parent and child. Pregnant at 16, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) left her rich parents to bring up her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) on her own terms; when Rory herself turns 16, Lorelai wants to send her academically gifted daughter to the prestigious Chilton school. The catch is, Lorelai can't afford it on her own, and... More Info About This DVD Director(s): Kenny Ortega - Lev L. but these episodes just aren't as strong. I only vaguely remember seeing these on Comedy Central, probably because they are aired less than the previous seasons.
Laughed more at the Chapelle "quickie" sketch included on Disc One than all the episodes combined on said disc.
This dvd is just a promotion idea to get people interested in the series. They sell first episode DVD's like this in stores all the time. They figure people will be more likely to put down $55 on a set of DVD's if they knew what they were getting.
Anyways the pilot on the show was great, and this DVD is very unnecessary if you already like the show. But, if you have never seen an episode and you just want to give it a try then this is something that you should check out.
I have never bought one of these first episode disks but i have seen some in Best Buy, and I believe you will actually get a coupon or something for $5 off the first season set. Season Two is a glorious revelation from the Gods of Comedy and features such wiley moments (often musical) such as Noblett singing 80s power rock ballads and yellow-clad cult members of the Safe Trap House joyously chanting, "I'm gonna sit at the Welcome Table, Hallelujah!", but unfortunately Season Two is missing a bit of that life-altering je ne sais quoi of the first. Guy, Jerri's actively catatonic father, is dead by episode three to be replaced by a weakened rendition of the old favorite, Stu, the Meat Guy. The sexual tension between Noblett and Jellineck has fizzled.
I almost had her face tattooed on my body. My sister and I quote it like bible verses. The line about " How many of you want to wake up in a public bathroom lying in s pool of what you HOPE is your own filth" is on my phone. Devotion, or obsession? I do not know but what I do know is this is Hilarious!
It's ridiculous but smart at the same time. My friend borrowed all three seasons from me one time and I got panicky.(Now he has my Arrested Development dvd and I feel that way again). Everyone I force to watch loves it...well all except one person. I won't mention her name, but we will never look at Liane the same way again.
Anyway if you have seen an episode or two on comedy central and trying to figure out which season to buy, Season One is my personal fav. Of course you'll...
