Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

"It's all about character," Jack McCain says to son John on his first day at Annapolis Naval Academy. Based on John McCain's autobiography, A&Es Faith of Our Fathers traces the senator's character-building journey from pilot to POW to war hero. Shawn Hatosy (Soldier's Girl) is John and Scott Glenn (The Right Stuff) is his four-star admiral father. The story begins in 1967 when the younger man is shot down over North Vietnam, tortured, and hospitalized--only to be tortured again. Then it flashes back to 1953 as he takes his initial steps towards a military career and life with first wife Carol (Erin Cottrell). The made-for-TV movie continues to alternate between Annapolis and Vietnam's Hanoi Hilton. The story ends after McCain is released in 1973. Although his... When a teenage schoolgirl is kidnapped by Mexican bandit El Diablo (Star Trek: Voyager's Robert Beltran), her clumsy, awkward schoolteacher Billy Ray Smith (Anthony Edwards) sets out to save her. The would-be hero in this offbeat Western teams up with crotchety veteran gunslinger Van Leek (Louis Gossett Jr.), who helps him form an unlikely posse to rescue Smith's damsel in distress. What sets this low-key, made-for-cable production apart from numerous other Westerns is its humorously skewed take on the myths and legends of the Old West, as it not only deconstructs Hollywood's romanticized view of the genre but Billy Ray's veneration of a mythical gunfighter named Kid Durango, whose literary adventures he regularly reads to his students. Gossett is wonderfully droll as unscrupulous... Having contributed in some small way to the making of this movie, I found it barely resembled the original cut. The excessive editing destroyed the continuity and artistry. I found the producers attempt at retitling and billing Samuel L. Jackson as the star... Gus Farace, to be shameful! Tony Danza plays the title role in this movie and Mr. Jackson is not even a first billing in 1992 when this movie was shot. Where is the integrity? I'm a diehard skier and when this film came out in 1984, the fellow skibums and I decided to attend opening night. I was only a junior at the time, and at know ones surprise, skibums from all three local highschools attended. We all bonded on and off the slopes, so a few beers in the parking lot and we were ready for some ski action. We were not dissapointed, for that time, it was the best ski footage on film, alot has changed in skiing since then, but remember this is 1984. We had a rollicking good time, David Naughton made the film, funny and cocky. Doesen't hurt having Shannon Tweed, playmate of the year for some eyecandy, she prevails. The main character, "Harkin Banks" is played by a preppy Patrick Houser who obviously was cast for his looks and not his acting, he is horrible, but...
