Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. This review is for the Criterion Collection DVD edition of the film.
The Flowers of St. Francis released in Italy as Francesco, giullare di Dio or Francis, God's Jester, is a nice film depicting Saint Francis. I thought it was a nice film to some extent, but not being Catholic, I don't understand some aspects of the film.
The film is well photographed and has some nice music too.
The special features are nice too and they include the original prologue for the American premire and various interviews with Isabella Rosellini, the director's daughter, Adriano Aprà , a film historian and Virgilio Fantuzzi, a film critic and Catholic priest.
The liner notes also include various material also. More Info About This DVD Director(s): Roberto Rossellini DVD Release Date: Released the 23 August 2005 Usually ships in 24 hours

Too bad has to be in Italian rather than the original German. Scenes of devastated Berlin are limited. European depiction of life at its basest, a decimated civilization trying to rebuild itself as the elements responsible for its downfall dominate. Not as harsh as might be expected. Audiences were convinced that the actors were all amateurs (they weren't) and the whole film was improvised (it wasn't; the three screenwriters included Federico Fellini). With its semidocumentary camera style and use of actual locations, the film does feel very real. Of course, so does the opening half-hour of Saving Private Ryan, and like that film Open City is at its heart a classic war yarn any Hollywood studio would feel at home with. The story involves members of the Italian underground trying to smuggle badly needed cash out...
