Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

Tru Calling is one of my favorite shows. I had thought the show as back when the second season began. But, it only had a few episodes. Only six were made for this season and only five were aired. This set is the only way to see that last episode. Also, this set has a making of featurette.

The science fiction series Space Above and Beyond, which enjoyed a brief run in the 1995-96 season, was created by X-Files producers Glen Morgan and James Wong as a revision of the classic war series Combat!. Set in the not-too-distant future, Space Above and Beyond follows the adventures of five inexperienced Marines of the 58th Squadron, who are involved in a war against the Chigs, a race of aliens bent on conquering the Earth. Morgan and Wong gave their main characters intriguing personalities--Nathan West (Morgan Weisser) has joined the Marines to save a girlfriend captured by the aliens, while Rodney Rowland's Cooper is an artificially created human whose service is inspired by a desire to escape the violent prejudice he faces on Earth. Unspeakable is a suitably spooky variation on The Silence of the Lambs crossed with The X-Files, and features a wonderfully delirious Dennis Hopper performance to boot. The legendary actor plays a gentleman sadist of a warden, with little tolerance for an experimental memory-graphing program in use at his prison by Diana, a resilient scientist (Dina Meyer). The capture of an escaped serial killer, Jesse (Pavan Grover), brings researcher and brilliant madman together in a Clarice-Hannibal fashion; the difference is that Grover's character is an evolved human with powerful telepathic abilities. Between invading Diana's thoughts and projecting fantasies into her memory machine, Jesse provokes guards and the warden himself into self-destructive insanity. Lance Henriksen... Takes place in Paris. Mom and daughter seeing sights - sees too much. Unfortunately they were seen back. Filmed in Paris. Acting was well done. Michelle is skilled at playing the normally placid lady who when pushed too far, pushes right back. Would rate it higher if the production company had made better copies. The film was contrasted dark and the speech did not match the movement of the lips. Still in all, an excellant film. More Info About This DVD Director(s): Thomas J.
