Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. I realize that many people thought this movie was funny. And I agree, some parts were funny.
However, I forced myself to watch this movie just because I wanted to know what all the hype was about, and I really don't think the movie was anything to build up. I'm still amazed that I sat through the whole thing.
The movie plays on stereotypes, which does not represent the community as a whole. I don't think I would ever want a straight friend of mine to see this movie because it so clearly feeds on the assumptions that build the deep-rooted hate that still exists in our society. This movie left NOTHING to the imagination, and seemed to not be a movie, but instead an expression of "how far can the gays push the envelope."
