Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

St. Elsewhere is viewed by critics as one of the best TV shows ever produced. The accolades are deserved. All the shows since - ER, Grey's Anatomy, Chicago Hope and others - have roots in St. Elsewhere, the show that set the standard for combining hospital drama and comedy.
As a teenager I came late to the table and was only able to view about two thirds of the original shows. However, I was able to record on VHS almost all of the shows I did see. I was excited when I heard they were going to (finally!) release the show on DVD and I could, at last, watch all the early episodes I had missed.
So here we have one of the most acclaimed shows ever and what we get is a flimsy slip case, double sided DVDs (that easily become scratched), and minimal extras. This is... The colorful cast of characters from Cicely, Alaska, returns for a new set of adventures in Northern Exposure: The Complete Second Season. While much of the first season was devoted to establishing the plot, each of the seven episodes in season 2 helps us to know the offbeat ensemble of Cicely residents a little better. Dr. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow), the New York urbanite stationed in small-town Alaska to pay off his medical-school tuition, still complains constantly about his assignment, but it's clear the town's growing on him when he passes up an opportunity to return home (if only temporarily). We learn from town patriarch Maurice (Barry Corbin) that retired astronauts have groupies, and when a beautiful woman steals the voice of DJ "Chris in the Morning" (John Corbett),... Deep Space 9 is by far my favorite Star Trek series. I didn't buy the 7 seasons all at once, but over a period of several months and I'm delighted to have these episodes at my fingertips. The show is just AWESOME! What a wonderful, believable collection of characters it has, and the story arcs they've written are gripping to say the least! This is grittier stuff than we're accustomed to seeing in Star Trek, and it comes off very well.
The huge disappointment with this set comes with the quality of the video. I tried watching these on my high definition television and it looked TERRIBLE! I don't have the vocabulary to describe how it looked, but I found it to be nearly unwatchable. They look great on my 25 inch tabletop in my office though, so at least I can watch them. ... I grew up watching this series on tv and fell in love with it - completely!! It became an obsession. I love it so much, I feel like I know all the characters. I only had the Complete series on vcd so I decided I would get the dvd, probably better quality too. Me and my cousin used to pretend we were different people in the series, I used to be Diana. I was always so fascinated by her, and I loved the glitter in her hair, the episode where they have the big wedding and Charles gets killed. And I love their clothes too. So I'm looking forward to watching it again, I only had it on vcd before, but dvd's are of better quality and this is really a must own for me. If you haven't seen the series before - wow, you are going to get a big treat! Very 80's, lot's of action, some cheesy lines,... Sigh I loved Beverly Hills 90210 my kids loved it, I still love the re runs but tv here only ever shows segmented series and we want it all. This box set would fly off the shelves in the UK, come on Amazon how do we all get together and contact the makers to petition them to put this on DVD. Anyone knowing how we can start one up please contact me I'd love to be in on the petition. Thanks. Whether it's a snowy nude sprint down Main Street, the mysterious appearance of a long-lost relative, or the improbable death of yet another of Maggie's boyfriends, life's never dull in the remote hamlet of Cicely, Alaska. Colorful characters and quirky plots propelled Northern Exposure into the hearts of millions of viewers, earning the CBS "dramedy" series seven Emmy awards between its 1990 debut and its demise six seasons later.
In season 1, we meet Dr. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow), an urban New York yuppie who consents to four years of rural servitude after Alaska pays his medical-school tuition. Joel's fish-out-of-water adventures drive the show, but it's the quirky ensemble of characters--Chris, the DJ/philosopher (John Corbett), Holling, the bartender (John Cullum),...
