DVD Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)

Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the... Learn More

Scooby Doo, Where Are You! - The Complete First and Second Seasons

Chuck Jones and other great studio animators sneered at the cheap look and lazy craftsmanship of Hanna Barbera's television cartoons in the 1960s, but there's no question HB's original, 35-year-old Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! is enduringly beloved. The Complete First and Second Seasons includes all 25 stories first broadcast from September '69 to October '71, a growth period in which canine hero Scooby's voice (by Don Messick, who also voiced The Jetsons's pup, Astro) was gradually refined from murky garble to Scoob's more familiar, "Rrroowwrr"-inflected, human-like speech. This set also represents the pre-frills Scooby-Doo: no guest appearances by Don Knotts or Batman, no Scrappy-Doo--just adventure and occasional bubblegum pop tunes by Danny Janssen and... Tom and Jerry - Whiskers Away

The ultimate cat and mouse chase travels around the world at a frantic pace in this 72-minute compilation of 10 Tom and Jerry cartoons. Whether on a cruise ship bound for Hawaii, in France during the era of the guillotine, or at a ranch deep in Texas, Tom the cat can be counted upon to pursue, and be outsmarted by, Jerry the mouse. Slapstick comedy reins as Tom and Jerry are repeatedly shot full of holes, conked over the head with frying pans, and even venture into flamenco guitar playing and dancing. Tom and Jerry cartoons appeal to all ages, but the prevalence of violence necessitates parental guidance for young children. --Tami Horiuchi More Info About This DVD

Abbott & Costello Show (1952- 53): Vol. 3

I love the Abbott & Costello Show. They are much better in front of an audience than in their Universal films.

Note that this Amazon page incorrectly credits Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera for directing the 1950s A&C show. They did not. Someone at Amazon is confusing these B&W sitcoms with the 1967 cartoon shorts from Hanan-Barbera that featured Bud Abbott doing his own voice (Lou Costello died in 1960). More Info About This DVD
