  • DVD Bride of Chucky

Brace yourself: this is a clever, consistently entertaining, and even inspired continuation of the mean-spirited slasher series. For those not in the know, Chucky is a mop-top kid's doll come to life with the soul of a serial killer and the voice of Brad Dourif (doing his best Jack Nicholson). Revived by his former paramour Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly, looking every inch a life-size Barbie in stiletto heels and skintight black leather), Chucky proceeds to turn his human sweetie into a pint-sized Talking Tina doll with attitude, and together they hit the road for a magic amulet and young new bodies to inhabit. They hitch a ride with sweet young runaways Katherine Heigl and Nick Stabile and leave a trail of corpses bloodied, burned, and cut to ribbons. The kids are cute, but the real heat is generated by the latex lovers who use murder as foreplay and consummate their renewed romance in a night of passionate sex ("Shouldn't you wear a rubber?" "I'm all rubber!"). Hong Kong director Ronny Yu (The Bride with White Hair) directs with a light touch and against all odds transforms walking dolls Chucky and Tiffany into funny, energetic, full-blooded characters: l'amour fou has never been more crazy. John Ritter costars as Heigl's overprotective uncle (another obstacle on the road to dolly freedom) and Alexis Arquette is hilarious as a lanky goth nerd. The wild conclusion leaves room for another high-concept sequel. The DVD features two commentary tracks, a behind-the-scenes documentary, and "Jennifer Tilly's Diary." --Sean Axmaker

    Review(s): DVD Bride of Chucky
Frighteningly Funny !!!!! Hillariously Horrible !!!!!!!

A Maccabre version of 'Natural Born Killers' with a lot more humour. I think this is the funniest of the Chucky movies I've seen. I nearly cracked up laughing when I saw the 'Voodoo for Dummies' book. It's a real dig at the IT world. It's a pity that we were left with only Jennifer Tilly's voice not far into the movie. She's a real hot babe. I was surprised to see an older John Ritter doing his bit. Quite a contrast from the popular 'Three's Company' sitcom (which I still enjoy very much).

The Chucky and Tiffany dolls were really great. The wizardry that goes into 'bringing them to life' never fails to amaze me. I would have liked to see this movie on DVD. The sound was still good on prologic though. There were some great songs featured as well. This is certainly not a scary movie. There's more larfs than scares and if you've seen 'Child's Play' then you can appreciate who the Chucky character is. Just keep the kids away though (luckily I don't have any). They probably won't play with dolls ever again after watching this movie.

The Best of The Chucky Movies

I've never been a huge fan of the Child's Play films but i really like this one. while not as scary or suspenseful or creepy as the others, this movie is still the best one. The Dolls are incredible and life like and the special effects are top notch. This also had some of the greatest one liners and some of the funniest dialogue i've heard in a horror film. One of the great things about this movie is they pay so many tributes and homages to horror movies that came before it, like Halloween, and Friday the 13th and HellRaiser and even the classic Bride of Frankenstein. If you don't believe me check out the police evidence room at the beginning VERY closely. this movie even pokes fun at itself "chucky"- it's a long story,if it were a movie it would take three or four sequels to do it justice". While not up there on the horror scale, this movie is seriously entertaining.
Here's hoping they make another sequel just as good if not better than this one. Jennifer tilly was great in this and if you focus on the fact that the dolls carry the story and they are the main characters and everything else is just filler, you'll like this movie a lot. Just my opinion but this movie is one of my favorites.

Phenomenal, the finest one of its kind!!!!!!!!!!

This film is funny, but also is suspenseful and has a few terrifying and jumpy bits in it. I think is was one of the best Chucky films and it is worth seeing and purchasing this movie. The ending was shocking and it was a thrill ride of laughter and screams. I am looking forward to the next Chucky but I don't believe it could possibly match this one .I gave it 5 stars because I was never bored and I could watch it over and over again any time because it was truly a master piece.

    Child's Play DVD

Horror maestro Tom Holland (Fright Night) brought wit and devilish energy to this 1988 scarefest about a murderer (Brad Dourif) who wills his soul into an innocuous doll named Chucky, and reveals himself only to the toy's owner, a frightened little boy. Catherine Hicks plays the child's mother, and Chris Sarandon a detective; neither of them knows what to make of the kid's story. Monster-doll stories are always wonderfully surreal, and Child's Play is no exception. Holland oversees some finely tuned special effects that allow Chucky to express himself and do some damage--it is truly unnerving but somehow good, subversive fun. --Tom Keogh More Info about this DVD

    Child's Play 2 DVD

When my friend and I rented this film we were expecting a crappy sequel what we say knocked us down. Although it doesn't touch the original it is still pretty sacry. It has the good death scenes, the suspence and awsome lines made by Chucky. If your into horror you won't be disgusted and pissed off by this sequel. it doesn't ruin the original. IT'S WORTH THE RENT. More Info about this DVD

    Child's Play 3 DVD

In "Child's Play 3", Andy is older now and at a millitary school. However, a young African American boy is now Chucky's new apparent target. This movie is another boring sequel in the already very tired series involving the killer "good guy" doll, but I did find the mock war scene amusing when Chucky substituted live rounds for the blanks they were supposed to be shooting...unfortunately, that's the highlight of this movie. This movie is again dominated by the recurring theme of Chucky trying to find a young boy so that he can live again in a human body...the acting is poor and the movie is boring. Unless you are a diehard Chucky fan, avoid this one along with the rest of the series which gets significantly and progressively worse from this one forward, unless you enjoy watching silly... Friday the 13th DVD

This splatter flick, along with John Carpenter's Halloween, helped spawn the great horror-movie movement of the '80s, not to mention eight sequels, many of which had nothing to do with the films that preceded them. It also gave birth to Jason Voorhees, one of the three biggest horror-movie psychos of the modern era (the other two being Halloween's Michael Myers and A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger). Forever duplicated, the original Friday the 13th popularized a number of themes and techniques that today are now clichés: the increasingly gory murders, the remote forest location, the anonymous and nubile cast, the murderer as cult hero, and, of course, the moral that if you have sex, you will die, very painfully. Still, if you have to see... More Info about this DVD

Freddy vs. Jason (New Line Platinum Series) DVD

After 11 years in development hell and screenplay drafts by 13 different writers, the long-awaited smackdown of Freddy vs. Jason finally arrives. After making their respective debuts in Friday the 13th (1980) and A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger, replacing long-time Jason performer Kane Hodder) and razor-gloved Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) square off in a slasher-franchise combo-deal that only their most devoted fans will appreciate; turns out this is a lightweight match in which nobody wins. It's an average entry in the histories of these horror icons, comparable to half of their previous sequels, and Bride of Chucky director Ronny Yu satisfies purists with plenty of gushing blood and mayhem when...
