Totally accurate protrayal of rural Southerners

I lived in the South for quite some time and only this film and "Deliverance" tell it like it is. Must see!

    from nc

i was utterly repulsed the way people from my state are portrayed in this movie. yes there are people like that in this sate but they have all moved here in the last 15 years. if it weren't for a very brief alomst topless view of gillian anderson this movie would be worthless......sam felts

    Not Topless

The edition I received did not show a frontal view of Gillian Anderson topless. The movie showed very little of G Anderson. The movie was a sermon against and a slap against rural Southerners. The acting was good but the plot was sick. The movie portrayed rural North Carolina people as ignorant and unsophisticated. It was typical Hollywood subliminal, left-wing, liberal propaganda as spouted by CBS, ABC, NBC, Ted Kennedy, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson. Don't waste your money. You won't see what you've heard of Gillian Anderson.

    Playing by Heart DVD

This amiably amorphous comedy-drama about a myriad of articulate and witty people pondering the meaning of love was originally titled Dancing About Architecture. As one of the lovelorn puts it, in trying to explain the elusive nature of desire, "Talking about love is like dancing about architecture." However, with the way the characters in Willard Carroll's film talk, it sounds like they could dance a samba around Frank Lloyd Wright. This undiscovered gem doesn't have a particular destination in mind, as it weaves in and out of the stories of its high-profile ensemble, but it does offer some hilarious, sharp dialogue and quiet surprises. Carroll focuses his film on four couples, all in one way or another battling with the problems of relationships, ranging from long-marrieds (Gena... More Info about this DVD

The X-Files - The Complete Ninth Season DVD

Though season 9 may not be the best period in a long line of groundbreaking television, it is still worthy of the X-Files name. Knowing this was the last season had many fans prematurely disgruntled, and the expectation for "going out with a bang" was extremely high. Lots of longtime issues came to a head (Scully's single motherhood, new X-files agents at the helm, Agent Skinner is now a believer, Mulder MIA, etc.), and many new issues and plots arose. Learning the facts of his son's death, Agent Doggett (Robert Patrick) seeks out the missing Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) to help him expose the corrupt Deputy Director Kersh (James Pickens Jr.). Knowing that her gifted son William is a target of a religious cult, Scully (Gillian Anderson) enlists the help of the Lone Gunmen for... More Info about this DVD

Killing Me Softly (Unrated Edition) DVD

It's easy to identify the biggest attraction of Killing Me Softly: two fetching actors (Heather Graham, Joseph Fiennes) and lots of nudity--especially in the unrated version. It's harder to choose the bigger liability: the dialogue howlers (as Fiennes binds Graham in ropes, she says, "Sometimes I feel like I don't know you") or the incredibly obvious solution to the big mystery. The story is an unofficial update of Hitchcock's Suspicion: a new wife wonders whether her unbelievably charismatic husband might be a murderer. The Chinese filmmaker Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine) turns out to be exactly the wrong director for this overheated slice of l'amour fou in London, but with the hopeless pairing of Graham and Fiennes as the passionate lovers, he didn't have...
