The sound is the main problem with this DVD edition of Chino (that and the fact the film is presented "full screen"). The picture is about as good as it would be on an average vhs tape, but the sound is sometimes muffled, sometimes echoing--so much so in parts that it sounds as if they just played the film in a big room and recorded the soundtrack with the mic on a cheap boombox. But the movie itself is very good. And to make up for the sound quality, this DVD offers an episode of Bronson's 1950's TV show, "Man with a Camera," unavailable anywhere else (for now). So, for [price range], yes. For [price]--don't bother.
A review
I've like Charles Bronson ever since I saw him in Dirty Dozen. This DVD consists of Chino and Man with a camera. Chino is a well made film with Bronson as a half-indian horse rancher. It features beautiful horses and a lot more. This important film in his career is also known as Valdez, the half-breed. The other three important characters that is a teenage runaway is played by Vincent Van Patten, Maral, a wealthy breedy by Marcel Bozzuffi and his sister is played by Jill Ireland. Man with a Camera is a b/w TV preogramme. In it is a young Charles Bronson playing Mike Kovac, a photographer. It is an interesting TV presentation. This DVD also contains and introduction by the great Tony Curtis and an original trailer for Kid Galahad starring the King, Elvis Prestley.
"Cabo Blanco" is must-have DVD for true Bronson fans--and not the least reason is because you actually get to see the man act. But the most surprising thing about this Laserlight DVD is that the transfer, picture and sound, is actually quite good. And, unlike most budget dvds of contemporary films, this one is presented in widescreen. I know another reviewer mentioned that the film was originally shot in 'scope ("scope" is a term for generic Cinemascope techniques) but the aspect ratio here seems to be the correct one--no panning or scanning, and no actors cut in half on either side of the screen. Now, it's certainly not a "restored" version of this obscure film, but they did find a very nice print which only shows wear at the reel-change spots.
And, as a bonus, you get to see a... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Charles Bronson DVD Release Date: Released the 03 February 1999 Usually ships within 24 hours

Vince Majestyk (Charles Bronson) absolutely has to get his watermelon crop in, come hell or high water, and nothing in the world is going to stop him. Trouble comes, however, in the form of Bobby Kopas (Paul Koslo), who tries to force Majestyk to use a crew of winos rather than Majestyk's hand-picked migrant crew. After Majestyk cleans his clock, Kopas swears out an assault complaint, and soon the melon grower finds himself in the county lockup. In jail he meets hit man Renda (Al Lettieri), and the two regard each other with hostility and suspicion. In a segment worthy of action director John Frankenheimer, Renda's pals try to break him out of a prison bus in a street shootout. Instead, Majestyk commandeers the bus and drives off with Renda, with the intention of using him as a pawn to... I actually originally picked up Someone Behind The Door on VHS for 99 cents. I was a huge Bronson fan and said "what the hell" and got it. The title and cover did not make the film too appealing, but I was actually taken by total surprise by the film. Fans of Bronson's action films, don't expect the same here. This is more of a thought provoking thriller. What got me the most is the great performances by Bronson, Perkins, and Bronson's then wife . The story centers on brain sergon Anthony Perkins finding amnesia victim Bronson. Perkins takes him in for care and somehow convices him to murder his wife. The ending is spactacular. Smartly written and moves at a brisk pace. Though this is one of Bronson's more obsecure films, it well worth for fans to check out. This one his rarities that he... That's from the back cover on the DVD. I guess what they're saying is, "This is a GOOD Bronson movie." Indeed -- ANY movie written by Lina Wertmuller and scored by Ennio Morricone is bound to be at least interesting, no matter the subject or the star. *Violent City*, set in New Orleans but Italian-produced (and directed by journeyman Sergio Sollima), is a really nasty piece of work that explores the seamy underbelly of petty organized crime and its contract killers. Charles Bronson plays a retired independent hitman hilariously named "Jeff". At first, he gets our sympathy. He's a nice guy, on the surface: well, he's nice as long as he's got a yacht and a hot broad to play with. But when things turn sour -- when he's double-crossed by the hot broad and an old pal -- he shows his true... Charles Bronson passed away recently, and to remember him I decided to view once again one of his most bizarre films, "The Evil That Men Do." Returning to this film at least ten years after I last watched it was quite the trip down memory lane, back to the invigorating 1980s when low budget films like this played on cable every night. Some of the best B-movie action flicks in that era starred Bronson, who worked closely with companies like Cannon in order to bring us numerous sequels in his "Death Wish" franchise, the gruesome "10 to Midnight," and the immensely unentertaining "Assassination." Of course, Bronson was much more than a string of cheesy actioners in the 1980s; he also appeared in some of the best known films of all time, like "The Dirty Dozen," "Once Upon a Time in the West,"...
