DVD Night Shift
Ron Howard's breakthrough film as a director launched Michael Keaton as a screen comic. In this film, he is teamed with a hangdog Henry Winkler as a pair of night attendants at a city morgue. Thinking entrepreneurially, Keaton (as the flakier half of the team) convinces a reluctant Winkler that they could kill two birds with one stone and use their quiet surroundings to start a call-girl business. The first girl in the stable of these unlikely pimps: Shelley Long, pre-Cheers. Given the rather tasteless subject matter (ever really met a happy hooker?), it's surprisingly good fun, ignited by the chemistry between the nebbish Winkler and the jet-propelled Keaton, who seized this role and used it to shoot him to stardom--and into several years of stinkers. Meanwhile, the film was supposed to help Winkler segue from the Fonz on Happy Days to a career acting in movies, but whatever happened to him? --Marshall Fine
I'll fake my death to get into this morgue, full of hot playmates, beer, and the Fonz, o-yeah. Shelly Long really needs some implants, my terrier has bigger breasts. Ron Howards brother, Clint, is the ugliest man alive. He makes Jason from "Friday the 13th" look like Brad Pitt.
Night Shift
one of the funniest movies I've ever seen..a true comedy classic..a Ron Howard film with Michael Keaton, et al.
Richard Belzer plays a tough, non-comedic role. Some classic lines like:
"nice frame".
I highly recommend this film. Although it's over 20 years old, it's still funny.
Wall street Journal, whats wrong with the inquirer?
Ron Howards jump from good boy image to this film is wonderful. Billy Blazejowski is one of the funniest characters on film. Michael Keatons film debut. Good hearted, not raunchy, but good laughs that have you rewinding so you don't miss the next scene. To see the Fonz as a wimp is gratifying. My fav. scene, Billy posing for his mugshots. Too funny. Also when Billy decides to use the hearse as a limo picking up prom kids and diplomats. When the prom kid, Jeffery shows up,(Ron Howards brother, Clint), and Winklers character says to Billy, " Its a limo for dead people." Billy responds, "So...did you see that kid." I LOVE THIS FILM. Pick this dvd up and enjoy a honest, funny flick that hits the funnybone. Todays standards this would be PG 13, no bad language, a quick glimpse of breasts, big deal, one hell of a funny film. "Why not just feed the tuna fish mayo?...Call Starkist." Enjoy, you won't be let down. A bit of trivia for ya, the annoying saxaphone player on the subway is actually the director, Ron Howard, pretty cool huh! Kenin Costner is the frat boy behind Billy when he is balancing a beer on his head. Shannen Doherty is the Bluebird in the elevator screaming mugger at Chuck. Great 80's soundtrack with Quarterflash and Rod Stewart, buy this film, you will not be let down by no means. A comedy classic.
In this crowd-pleasing 1983 comedy of high finance about a homeless con artist who becomes a Wall Street robber baron, Eddie Murphy consolidated the success of his startling debut in the previous year's 48 Hours and polished his slick-winner persona. The turnabout begins with an argument between super-rich siblings, played by Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche: Are captains of industry, they wonder, born or made? To settle the issue, the meanies construct a cruel experiment in social Darwinism. Preppie commodities trader Dan Aykroyd (perfectly cast) is stripped of all his worldly goods and expelled from the firm, and Murphy's smelly derelict is appointed to take his place, graduating to tailored suits and a world-class harem in record time. Eventually the two men team up to teach the... More Info about this DVD Director(s): John Landis DVD Release Date: Released the 24 September 2002 Usually ships in 24 hours

When Jack Butler (Michael Keaton) loses his job at an auto factory, he expects to quickly find another. But instead, his wife Caroline (Teri Garr) starts working for an ad agency and Jack ends up taking care of the house and kids. He stops shaving, drinks at all hours, and watches soap operas. And not only does a predatory divorcée (Ann Jillian) have her eye on him, Caroline's new boss (Martin Mull) has more than business on his mind. Will their marriage survive? What makes Mr. Mom work isn't its role-reversal premise, but its clever off-the-main-plot scenes like the obstacle course at the company... One of the best comedies of the 1970s, Blake Edwards's ode to midlife crisis and the hazards of infidelity now plays like a valentine to that self-indulgent decade, and it's still as funny as it ever was. In the signature role of his career (along with "Arthur"), Dudley Moore plays a songwriter with a severe case of marital restlessness, and all it takes is a chance encounter with Bo Derek (in her screen debut) to jump-start his libido. Julie Andrews plays Moore's wife, who will only tolerate so much of her husband's desperate need to reaffirm his sexual vitality, while Moore pursues Derek to a tropical rendezvous. The action builds to the now-famous bedroom scene that sent everyone rushing to the music store for their own copy of Ravel's Boléro. Talk about a classical... Little did Tom Cruise know that he would become a box-office superstar after he cranked up some Bob Seeger and played air guitar in his underwear. But there's more to this 1983 hit than the arrival of a hot young star. Making a stylish debut, writer-director Paul Brickman crafted a subtle satire of crass materialism wrapped in an irresistible plot about a crafty high schooler named Joel (Cruise) who goes into risky business with the beguiling prostitute Lana (Rebecca De Mornay) while his parents are out of town. Joel turns his affluent Chicago-suburb home into a lucrative bordello and forms a steamy personal and professional partnership with Lana, but only as long as the two can avoid the vengeful pimp Guido (Joe Pantoliano) and keep their customers happy. A signature film of the 1980s,... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Tom Cruise - Rebecca De Mornay Director(s): Paul Brickman DVD Release Date: Released the 27 August 1997 Usually ships in 24 hours
