Quest for Fire is so detailed in its depiction of prehistoric man that it might have been made by time-traveling filmmakers. I tried to play the film on my DVD player, suitable to play region code 1 DVD films.I was prompted, that the PG code setting of my equipment doesn't allow playing this film.My equipment was set to "adult", so the prompt was not rightful.To be on the safe side, I had set the PG code to "off", resulting the same prompt.Dead end, I couldn't play the film on my DVD player.I ordered together with "Quest for fire" the film Gia, and I could play it without any problem on the same DVD player.Best rgrds, Jozsef Szucs
interesting look at our past
i enjoyed this film for the most part. the invention of missionary position was definitely hilarious. seriously though, it was well done and had great music. it's not every day you see a movie with no real language; i definitely recommend it.

I tried. I watched Quest For Fire three times and then put it
out at the curb with the rest of the trash. If you knew nothing
about evolution or thought the Three Stooges was high art, you

Raquel Welch in a two-piece fur bikini. That and the title is pretty much all anyone needs to know. If that indeed isn't enough, there are the dinosaurs of technician-artist Ray Harryhausen (along with some superimposed iguanas), and a prologue that tells you all you want to know about this "brutal world." Want more? There are volcanoes, barehanded wrestling with warthogs, and rival, subhuman, cannibalistic tribes--Lord, the list goes on and on! The portrait of humankind isn't the most flattering: we're petty, greedy, we grunt a lot, and we don't play well with others. Yes, that's a former Beatle in caveman costume for this more-dumb-than-funny 1981 comedy about a prehistoric misfit (Ringo Starr) who recruits other misfits to start a new tribe. The jokes about flatulence and sex are banal, but the cast of then-unfamiliar faces is fun to watch from the perspective of history. Jean-Jacques Annaud's The Name of the Rose is a flawed attempt to adapt Umberto Eco's highly convoluted medieval bestseller for the screen, necessarily excising much of the esoterica that made the book so compelling.
