I enjoyed this film because of the interesting cast of characters, and constant plot twists. If you have ever played the game "Clue" and enjoy "who done it" mysteries, then you will enjoy this film. However, often times the attempts at crude humor can be a turn off. I still would recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good movie.
This is one of the better B suspense movies I've seen. Plus I'm a Marc Singer fan, and if you are too, you'll probably like this. Lots of sex, but that's to be expected from a film of this caliber. I don't think it detracts from the movie's suspense. Did I miss something? What role did Tippy Hedren play? I didn't notice her, but then, it's been a while. This has got to be the biggest stinker in Denzel's long movie career, just after the oscar winning Philadelphia, he went on to star in this cult Sci Fi movie based on machines outsmarting mankind in a virtual reality game, Russel Crowe also stars in this very, and i mean very bad movie. But hey, if you're a Sci Fi fan, watch this, but don't expect high rated acting from any of the two big stars. This is the movie that established Chevy Chase as a serious actor. It's a pity nobody was watching. Chevy Chase plays Nick Halloway, a solitary man made invisible by a freak accident. Chevy does an incredible job conveying the horror of being completely unnoticed, and puts a dark, and credible spin on a rather outlandish plot. Sam Neil is the CIA agent that wants him for his 'gifts'. Like always, Sam hits it dead on. Daryl Hannah covers the love intrest, and plays the part to satisfaction, although it's fairly obvious she didn't land the part becuase of her acting talents. Special effects were the best for the time, and aren't dated to the point were they distract from the story. This whimsical sex comedy presents itself as an alien documentary on the rituals and habits of terrestrial romance. Featuring Mackenzie Astin (The Last Days of Disco) and a tightly clad Carmen Electra (from the once-popular TV show Baywatch) as the Male and Female, the movie's at its best when the alien's commentary (voiced with supercilious aplomb by David Hyde Pierce, Wolf, Frasier) misinterprets flirting behavior at nightclubs. The jokes grow thinner as dating turns into a relationship (and the humor's perspective is decidedly male).
