  • DVD Napoleon

This live-action feature follows the adventures of a golden retriever puppy who chafes under his given name of "Muffin" (much preferring his own choice of "Napoleon") and who travels through the Australian outback in search of his canine roots. Plopping, as puppies will do, into a basket suspended by balloons one day, Napoleon drifts from the home of his mother and human family, eventually landing on the rocky shore of Sydney Harbor. There he becomes acquainted with a chatty parrot named Birdo Lucci (say the name aloud, you film buffs) and encounters all manner of animals in the wild: a cagey koala, a maternal kangaroo, an irritated lizard, and the dingoes with whom he wants to bond. The film was produced with an eye toward pleasing young audiences practically anywhere on earth, and the sight gags and visual thrills have a broad, universal appeal, while the many creatures in this film are given human voices on the soundtrack (any language would do, but the English-language actors include Joan Rivers and Dame Edna). On the downside, the dialogue can be a bit coarse ("shut up," "stupid," that sort of thing), though it's never obscene. And while no animals were hurt during the making of the movie, some of them certainly look as if they're placed in stressful situations. --Tom Keogh

This is a cute movie. It has a Retriever puppy, a blue and red bird, an evil black cat, wild dogs, and tons of animals in-between. A young pup named Napoleon longs to break free from his house pet life and join the wild dogs. When his wish comes true, he his totally excited. He gets stuck in a basket with tons of balloons tied to it and flies away. He goes ove to the woods where the wild dogs are. He meets Birdo, a lovable African Parrot. With his help, the pup sets out to find his dream. Full of laughs and adventure, this is a must own for any kid. And there is no violence at all except for a dog and cat fighting and it's not bad at all.

    Fluke DVD

A trouble some pooch who has reaccuring dreams of being something else, something far greater.... A man. After a series of silly events he begins to take these dreams seriously and goes off on an adventure to find his family and his old life before..... HE DIED.

While the story is very touching and has a very good moral too it it was far too too long for me and seemed kinda cheesy at some pionts they kept on reinfasizing reincarnation, reincarnation, reincarnation. It was interesting but at one piont it became very boring and I lost intrest. I have only been able to sit through it one time, because of this. It jusy seemed like the man was really in a coma and that at one piont that he was gonna wake up from this long boring nightmare but he never did.

A great... More Info about this DVD

Homeward Bound - The Incredible Journey DVD

Walt Disney studios had previously adapted Sheila Burnford's classic animal-adventure novel The Incredible Journey in 1963, and the story proves just as durable in this popular 1993 version, in which the heroic trio of animals are given voices provided by Don Ameche, Michael J. Fox, and Sally Field. They don't actually speak (like the clever critters in Babe), but we hear their "voices" as the lost household pets--Shadow the golden retriever, Chance the bulldog, and Sassy the cat--survive a harrowing series of adventures as they struggle to find their way home. Perfect entertainment for kids, this frequently clever movie offers an abundance of wildlife and beautiful location scenery, and the vocal performances by Ameche, Fox, and Field are surprisingly effective. A hit with... More Info about this DVD

The Adventures of Milo & Otis DVD

Japanese filmmaker Masanori Hata made this above-average family film about a dog and a cat--friends with a tendency to make mischief--who go on an unanticipated adventure when one is rushed downriver and the other follows. Hata, who took four years to complete the work, relies on purely cinematic storytelling techniques (these animals don't have human voices on the soundtrack), making the film an international favorite. Dudley Moore narrates, but the film works because Hata's filmmaking fundamentals are so good. Kids love this, but adults can easily appreciate and enjoy it, too. --Tom Keogh More Info about this DVD

Homeward Bound II - Lost in San Francisco DVD

This movie follows the unwritten law of sequels: bring back the same characters and put them in similar jeopardy with slightly tweaked circumstances. Instead of a cross-country journey, this time the pet trio must get from the San Francisco airport across the Golden Gate Bridge to their suburban home. Michael J. Fox and Sally Field return as the voices of Chance the bulldog and Sassy the cat, with Ralph Waite replacing the late Don Ameche as the elderly golden retriever. Their journey features dogfights, house fires, an epic battle with a pair of petnappers, and a love affair for Chance with a stray from the other side of the bridge (Carla Gugino). Sinbad voices another dog who guides them through the mean streets of the city by the bay, and Robert Hays stars as the father, but, frankly,... More Info about this DVD

    Bingo DVD

There was a man who had a dog, and Bingo was his name-o. This particular Bingo escapes from a cruel master in a circus and is adopted by a little boy, who is the son of a professional football place-kicker (David Rasche). The father happens to be allergic to dogs, so the boy keeps him hidden from the rest of the family. When Dad is traded from the Denver Broncos to the Green Bay Packers, the family unknowingly leaves Bingo behind. The mock-heroic dog (who is smarter than most of the family members) must track the family across several states and time zones before he's reunited with his trusting young master. A spoof of movies about dogs with amazing powers, this one is often slim pickings. The humor, which tends toward slapstick, is strictly hit-and-miss. This broad comedy will...
