First of all, why does this movie list for over $20?? This movie had to be a major letdown for all involved, an unremarkable addition to anyone's resume. The actors obviously attended the Keanu Reeve's School of Acting--I kept waiting for the "dude" to come out of the surf at any moment. I think the director became confused with the story, and it's obvious the production ran out of money before completion. I'm sure there were several yards of footage left on the proverbial "cutting- room-floor", because there seemed to be a lack of continuity throughout the film.
The only redeeming quality (and hence the only reason I rated it 2 stars instead of 1) was Denis Leary. While I don't care for him much as an actor or person, he did a fine job in what was otherwise a horrible film. Michael... Kari Wuhrer is HOT! If that doesn't interest you, then skip this movie.
I have to agree with the majority of the reviews- watch this for Kari Wuhrer. Some people didn't seem so turned on by the scene in the hotel where she shows her extraordinary talents (If you've seen the movie, you can't forget that scene!). Why? I have been looking for some information on this movie after stumbling on it one night while surfing cable TV. The movie in general is awful- unnecessarily violent and an overblown ending that could have been handled much better. Still, I have never been able to forget the "seduction" by Kari Wuhrer in the hotel room. WOW! Unfortunately, I also remember the creepy man peeping through the window- did they have to have him in such an exciting part of an otherwise dismal movie?... Michael, a forensic scientist, comes back to town to look into his twin brother's disappearance. It turns out that the mayor is involved and takes measures for the truth to stay buried. The first time I viewed this movie it tended to drag in the first third. The motive of the story was hard to understand and my beloved Robert Patrick (RP) wasn't seen often. It picked up very well after that, lots of RP appearances and much more action. The feel of the movie is like you're actually standing in the same room with the cast. They are all excellent actors - their lines were not forced but totally natural. Also the wobbly camera work and the eerie music added to the ambience of the movie. Well done studio guys. Okay - it's not a blockbuster type movie but it's a MUST for the Robert... More Info about this DVD Director(s): Paul Cade DVD Release Date: Released the 02 April 2002 Usually ships within 24 hours

I'm not saying that you can't have a good time watching this movie, if you find a moment in which you don't want to occupy your head in more demanding tasks, but the shortcomings are impossible to conceal. There is no character development whatsoever, the kind of "comedy of errors" procedure is specially annoying since nobody can understand why do they want to complicate things in such a stupid... I was waiting for this DVD to come out because I loved this movie when it first came out. I rented it from a video store a few years back and really enjoyed it. Well acted. Good premise. Not to mention, Kari Wuhrer is hotter than ever.
Yet, the DVD is a huge disappointment. It's edited! The video tape I rented was an unedited unrated version. THIS DVD IS NOT! It's the R-rated version.
Otherwise, I would have given it 4 stars! I'll never understand why they edit these movies? Ruins them.
Sex seems to be the only criterion for the MPAA to give out NC-17 and decline ratings. Yet, violence has no limit. More Info about this DVD Director(s): Karl Slovin DVD Release Date: Released the 22 July 2003 Usually ships within 3 to 4 days
