This DVD is terrific. I enjoyed all three movies, each with its own special flavor. The Beast From THe Haunted Sea is terrifically spoofy. It pokes fun at all the spy genre and the mass hysteria during the Cold War. A bumbling undercover spy infiltrates a wacky group of smugglers with deserters from the Cuban Army thrown in for good measure. The effects are lousy, the dialogue is intentionally awful but funny and th eBeast look like the Cookie Monster with Seaweed.
THe BEast From Hacuted Cave is different, darker and not bad. It involves a criminal gang who steals some gold and tricks a heroic ski guide to take them to his cabin to hide out. During the robbery, a beast was awaken or freed by the explosion and follows the crooks and proceeds to capture them one by one. Only the heroic ski guide and the chief crook's moll excape.
Corman has a flair for the dramatic and a good sense of what kind of story he wanted to tell. Unfortunately, his skills and budgets often prevented him from achieving his goals. Corman epitomizes the adage A man's grasp must exceed his reach Else what's a heaven for?!
I will buy more of his works.
Corman Triple Feature
If you are a fan of Roger Corman or drive-in style campy horror, this is a great buy. All three films are scratchy, but they all deliver the needed laughs. Creature from the Haunted Sea is the most hilarious with its bug-eyed undersea monster. In his memoir, Corman says it was intentional that the Creature win in the end. Beast from Haunted Cave is not a Roger Corman film, but it's a good one from his brother Gene. Clearly making the most movie out of little money is a family tradition. The Wasp Woman is the most famous of these(surprisingly timely and relevant when one considers how often plastic surgery and radical diets make the news). You can't beat the price. I find it appropriate that you can get these movies without spending a fortune, since no one spent a fortune to make them!
It is great to see these old Gamera movies on dvd! This one has always been my favorite of the series, and is an excellent film for kids. If you can find the retromedia double feature disc, which includes ATTACK OF THE MONSTERS as well, I recommend that one instead. The picture is much better, not as blurry and faded, and the menu is not just a still picture like this one. But this edition is ok for the price! W. Lee Wilder had a penchant for making enjoyably average yet largely forgettable science fiction films. In Phantom From Space (1953), he introduces us to a much more agreeable alien than that found in his more familiar Killers From Space of the following year. Okay, so the phantom does kill a few people and cause some serious oil fires, but it's not all his fault. He's just not a people person, you see, what with being invisible and all. He's also not that bright, choosing to ditch his spacesuit and helmet rather than fall into the clutches of the humans on his tail. He needs something akin to a methane gas atmosphere in order to breathe, and a helmet-less jaunt on earth with its oxygen-based atmosphere threatens to cut short his visit in a most significant way.

I am so pleased to finally see this wonderful Sci-Fi film being released after so many years. Years ago it had been announced as a release on LaserDisc, but was subsequently cancelled. It was also available for sale on VHS briefly; later it was only available as a rental, but now...it's going to be on DVD! This is the story of a man's experiments in getting two solid objects to exist in the same space. As his experiments progress, he is changed by the process in ways he did not anticipate. His life and his relationship with his fiancee change dramatically. This film had some interesting special effects for its time, and Robert Lansing, as the scientist who conducts the experiments, does a marvelous job with the material. Lee Merriwether (Catwoman of the Batman TV series fame) also stars... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Robert Lansing - Lee Meriwether - James Congdon Director(s): Irvin S. This is one of the more unusual Italian space drama films by director Antonio Magheriti from the early sixties. The plot revolves around a super-annoying reporter, whom the crew calls a "parasite" (Rik Von Nutter), who is along on a mission to report on space activities. He is not a likeable member of the media, which is the only thing realistic about the film. Von Nutter and crew have to dart between Mars and Venus on a top secret mission to save the Earth from a spaceship with a 5,000 mile radius heat shield (that will turn the Earth to boiling mud) which is out of control due to the death of the pilot. Ultimately the only likeable character in the whole film, space pilot Al (who is black with silver hair), gives them the secret for how to destroy the rogue ship, and pays the ultimate...
