The Hollywood Story of Vlad Tepes

Mediocre in every aspect: gross historical inaccuracies, poor acting and a script for dummmies, however with good production values. If you're still thinking of watching this movie and want to get some factual knowledge out of it here's some reminders: there was no unified Romania as we know it today, Vlad Tepes ruled over Wallachia (principality of Romania); the love and fatherhood subplot is bogus; and the cruelty and mental instability of Vlad is downplayed Hollywood-style in order to make this a hero movie. I recommend the book "Dracula Prince of Many Faces" for the true story of Vlad Tepes.

    Love this MOVIE!!!

I think this is a dair production from a modest budget. Only if this movie was made for theaters, it would have been better. Rudolf Martin played a Vlad Dracula like never before. This movie potraits Vlad not only as a Messiah, but as a man who devotes to his family and country. I love the music from the film. It IS SUCH a DISGRACE there is no information on the soundtracks.

    The Real Dracula

I want to say that I was born in Transylvania, Romania, and moved to the states when I was 3. I was astonished to find a movie based on the historical figure of Dracula. This movie was great! I know most people think of Dracula as an evil tyrant, but its untrue. He was/is a hero to Romanian people. He did NOT stake innocent people, he punished only those that stole, killed and deserved it. He helped the sick, innocent and poor. He fought for the weak. He was a brilliant general and a loving father. This movie portrays him pretty well, and I'm glad it was shot in Romania, where people can see its a beautiful place. I would definetly recommend this for people interested in facts.

The Roman bath scene with Gerard Butler(Attila) makes it all worth while.

It is also a great movie. I find it humorous and it has just enough fact and fiction mixed together to make it interesting. More Info about this DVD

    Bram Stoker's Dracula DVD

With dizzying cinematic tricks and astonishing performances, Francis Coppola's 1992 version of the oft-filmed Dracula story is one of the most exuberant, extravagant films of the 1990s. Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder, as the Count and Mina Murray, are quite a pair of star-crossed lovers. She's betrothed to another man; he can't kick the habit of feeding off the living. Anthony Hopkins plays Van Helsing, the vampire slayer, with tongue firmly in cheek. Tom Waits is great fun as Renfield, the hapless slave of Dracula who craves the blood of insects and cats. Sadie Frost is a sexy Lucy Westenra. And poor Keanu Reeves, as Jonathan Harker, has the misfortune to be seduced by Dracula's three half-naked wives. There's a little bit of everything in this version of Dracula: gore, high-speed... More Info about this DVD

    Dracula's Curse DVD

What can I say? Many have attempted it, but this movie is the first to truly capture the spirit of Bram Stoker's classic, Dracula. First published in 1897, this imaginative story has been told in such films as "Nosferatu the Vampire," "Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht," and "Nosferatu L.A. '02" - but never before with equivalent success. Furthermore, writer/director Roger Young has taken the movie a step further by maintaining thematic similarities between book and film while attaching a more familiar setting: the 21st century. When young American investment banker Jonathan Harker arrives at Vladislav Tepes's castle in Romania, he does so not in a carriage but a Porsche. When Harker and Dracula discuss business philosophy over dinner, the count slices their undercooked roast chicken not with... More Info about this DVD
