I actually rented this movie, and from seeing who was in the movie caught my curiousity. Now i have seen other movies on curiousity as well and many i have regretted. But, this one wasn't bad at all. It takes a couple of spoofs on "Pulp Fiction" and has the same feel, but with a ghetto twist on it. And at times the story is very unbelievable, where you would probably say they should have done this with that character instead of what the director, and screenwriter did with some of the characters. But, what do you expect for a straight to video release. 9 times out of 10 these end up being the best movies. So i try t keep an open mind and give new, unheard movies a chance. You may never know.
I saw this movie a few month's ago and I was suprised, I expect it to be horrible. One thing I wish though is that MC Lyte had a bigger role (she's a great actress), I thought the other ladies were good too. Bobby Brown is in this movie. I could say more, like how some of the phrases do not belong like "chill out" let's forget you're in the "wild west" and it's hot there. Or how about instance lust worth being heartbroken and dying over. And the end, I had to watch it again with someone because I did not understand it. There were a lot of incomplete, unanswered and just plain "no one was thinking when this script was written or "acted" out. But once again I reiterate BOBBY BROWN WAS IN THIS MOVIE, personal if I had known that I would not have bought it, because after watching it [...] was too much. The girls of the hood are fed up with gang violence, so they cut off their gangster boyfriends. They lock themselves up on the basketball court as a show solidarity. The movie was so rediculous that it was good. The two wisecracking whinos Red beans and Corn Bread deserved oscars- without them the movie would've been nothing. This is a compelling drama that is an earnest depiction of how the sexes can betray each other. What sets this film apart from the rest is that it is based on a true chain of events. The lead characters are well developed and definitively identifiable. They are modeled after women that many of us know. These elements give the events of the movie a deeper feeling of reality that other films in its genre lack.
The menus on the DVD are highly stylized and I loved the addition footage. This is another element of the DVD that sets it apart from its competition. When it is all said and done this is one of the best stories of the power of karma in recent years. Viewers may quite possibly think twice about committing their next 'durdy' action. Thumbs UP!
