This video was given as a gift to a "horse crazy" 5 year old who watches it constantly. She learns something new each time....and very seriously told me yesterday that you couldn't speak to your horse during a "Pressage" test. Excellent learning video for kids!
A "must have" for horse fans!!!
Entertaining for adults as well as children. I really enjoyed this video. Also, my 4 year old niece just loves it! She gets such a big laugh out of the horse "going" to the dentist! I'm so glad I found it on AMAZON!
Great for little horse lovers
I got this video for my girls (3 and 1). They both love it! It's great how this the story is told from the horse's point of view. It's also wonderful as an adult to watch, I've even learned a few things! Both my girls are glued to the tv when it's on.
My horse-crazy six-year-old is ho-hum about this one--jumbled mythology, wooden acting, contrived humor, flat characters, and above all--why on earth did they cast an obviously male horse to play the role of a mare? Get "Black Beauty" (the 1994-ish one that features real horses) or "The Black Stallion" instead! In the mountainous high country above the Australian bush, wild horses run free: Australians call them wild "brumbies." Author Elyne Mitchell's book, The Silver Brumby, on which this movie is based, is about a magnificent silver stallion, Thowra. The story opens on a dark and stormy night in the high country. Elyne (Caroline Goodall), spins a tale to comfort her daughter, Indi (Ami Daemion). The beautiful mare, Bell-Bell, gives birth to Thowra, an exceptional cream-colored foal, with a mane and tail that gleam silver in the moonlight. We see Thowra grow up through several seasons. Winter has its hardships; the herds of horses find survival difficult in the snow-packed mountains. But summer may be even more dangerous, for that's when men return to the high country to try to catch... This classic family film made a star of 12-year-old Elizabeth Taylor in the title role as spunky Velvet Brown, a girl who's determined to enter her horse, Pie, in the Grand National Steeplechase. Critic Pauline Kael called it "One of the most likeable movies of all time." Mickey Rooney costars as a young man who helps Velvet train Pie for the big race. At the last minute, Velvet herself has to ride Pie in the tournament and cuts her hair to pass for a jockey. Anne Revere won an Oscar as Velvet's mother, as did editor Robert J. Kern, who cut together a terrifically exciting horse race. Donald Crisp and Angela Lansbury are also featured as members of the Brown family. --Jim EmersonMore Info about this DVD Actor(s): Mickey Rooney - Elizabeth Taylor Director(s): Clarence Brown DVD Release Date: Released the 06 February 2001 Usually ships in 24 hours

When this flim was realeased i was so excited because i had watched the Saddle Club television show and i loved the first movie "Adventures at Pine Hollow" so i rushed out and bought the first adventure...it was a waste of money. The film was a bore and it did not portrey the characters very well. In the movie Stevie wastes her time chasing away a boy that she is crushing on and Veronica falls off Cobalt when she is out in the woods alone. She has a mild concussion and most of the film is spent with The Saddle Club searching for Veronica. Then at the start of the movie a new girl comes to Pine Hollow and her name is Lisa, she is a fairly good rider but this film makes her out as a baddie. I love the Saddle Club but i didn't love this movie. And for me, the biggest Saddle Club fan to say... Set in northern Africa at the beginning of World War I, this unusual movie is narrated by a horse, voiced by Lukas Haas (Witness). While the gambit works for the most part, let's face it, some sentences ("I had to find my place in the world") just sound silly coming from equine lips. Lucky, as he will be called, is born on an African-bound ship but is separated from his mother when the horses swim for shore and the new colt simply can't keep up. While mom and the rest of the gang are to work in the mines, Lucky is discovered by a young orphan who works as a stable hand. The mother-son pair are briefly reunited, but the stable's stallion, Caesar, fatally injures her. The high-born Caesar also prevents his own foal, Beauty, from seeing Lucky and eventually forces the colt out on his...
