Little House on the Prairie Rules!!

"Oh, mum!!" I said when we were shopping for a dvds to watch together.... Little House on the Prairie it was called..... they would of been the last dvds I would of picked to watch then but..... seemed like minutes but was atually hours later I was glued to Little House on the Prairie. Thanks to my mum or should I say Micheal Landon and help from his team staff for making, directing, producing Little House on the Prairie. I will always always remember Little House on the Prairie no matter what... lastly I remember when I was a little younger my histroy teacher said 'would you ever have gone back in time?' well at the time I said no but I think most people reading this will know and understand that my answer now is YESSSSSSS!!!!!!

    Poor quality transfer

I'm very surprised that this product has as high a rating as it does, I suppose most are simply glad the show is available on DVD. However, the transfer to DVD is absolutely horrible. On an opening night shot on disc 1, there is so much junk on the film that one would think one was seeing lightning bugs -- inside the house! The colors on these prints aren't even as good as what is shown on TVLand. This show might be 30 years old, but they cannot be using the best prints available. There is another irritating tip-off of the cheapness of this package -- the music on the closing credits is wrong -- or is this my imagination?

For those who are defending this package, the upcoming Daniel Boone DVD set is a good item to compare it with. That show aired in 1966 and the remastered print is fantastic. Studios and re-issue companies can do a good job when they choose to. It's a real shame that, in this age of big-screen TVs, this program will look so shoddy. It's apparent that with such a popular show, they could have recouped the investment.

    The best series ever made!

I've read several reviews that give the quality of the production of the DVD's a bad taste. I say I have to disagree. When I watch them on my DVD player, they sound just fine. Yes, I have noticed that they cut out some of the crucial opening and closing credits and that does get frustrating if you want to figure out who guest starred on the episode you are watching but it's not a big deal to me. I appreciate that they cut out some of that so that when you watch each episode (each episode is it's own chapter), you get right to the show and don't have to listen to the theme song each time.

I just ordered season 2 and I'm looking forward to watching more of this great classic show.

My favorite tear jerker shows of season 1 are:

Country Girls and The Lord is My Shepherd

    Other good shows are:

School Mom and Child of Pain

Little House on the Prairie - The Complete Season 2 DVD

There's no doubt about it, Season 2 little house is the BEST. I loved the episodes. Even though there were a few episodes I'm not crazy about. My favorite episodes are,Four Eyes, when Mary gets glasses and the kids at school tease her about them, then she hides them an tells her parents she lost them. Another good episode is At the end of the rainbow. It's when Laura and Jonah find fools gold. And I love the scenes were Laura daydreams that her family is rich, and that the Olesons are poor. And then there's the Campout where Nellie and Laura fall down stream. I think A matter of Faith is kind of scary other than that, this is the best season. More Info about this DVD

Little House on the Prairie - The Complete Season 3 DVD

Okay, here are the basic reasons I hate {don't like} this season. For one thing, The episodes. In this specific season 3 they have the WORST episodes in this season. Here's my theory. Season 1 &2 were EXCELLENT. And this is the WORST SEASON SO FAR. And why did they put Bunny and The Race in the wrong order? Take my advice, Watch BUNNY before THE RACE. I like sevreal episodes though like, To live with Fear is really good. But why is Fred {the goat} so annoyng and pathetic? But it is really funny. And The Blizzard was good. I did not care to watch The Monster of Walnut Grove by the description ,I can tell it doesn't flow. Oh well let's hope season 4 will be better. Oh I forgot , Bunny and the race are the BEST episodes from season 3. Even though this season is hardly good at all, I am... More Info about this DVD

Little House on the Prairie - The Complete Season 5 DVD

I was excited to buy the DVD box sets especially since the box covers brag at what lengths had gone into making the episodes at such highest quality. Truthfully, you will be getting better quality recording them off TV.

The TV episodes are probably an approximate 42 to 43 minutes to where the DVD episodes are an approximate 45 minutes. However, there are still some scenes cut out in the DVD episodes.

    Some cuts I found are:

In the episode "Fagin", an important scene where Charles tells Albert that since he is having a hard time with kids at school making fun of him for not having a father, why not start calling him "Pa". Instead, they cut to the scene where Laura overhears Albert call Charles "Pa" and she mentions it to the boy, who tells her that... More Info about this DVD

Little House on the Prairie - The Complete Season 6 DVD

Season 6 is my favourite Little House Season, and the end to what I call the "Mary in Trauma" Years. In Seasons 4 - 6 everything bad that could happen to anyone did - from going blind, to being held hostage, not once, but twice, with all the bad things climaxing in season six the burning of the blind school and the loss of her child. These years showcase Melissa Sue Anderson as one of the most amazing actresses of the 70's and 80's. I was most anxious to get season 6, expecting the three part 'Little House Years' and the pivotal deleted scene from 'May We Make Them Proud' - where the blind boy goes into the bathroom to blow his nose, consequently resulting in the deaths of Adam Jr and Alice Garvey, neither of which are included in this collection. Other than that disappointment - I... More Info about this DVD
