DVD Escape to Witch Mountain (Special Edition)
The effects are low-tech and no longer special, but Escape to Witch Mountain still has plenty of Disney live-action charm. It's rather quaint by later standards, coming just two years before Star Wars upped the ante on movie magic, but the story's got timeless appeal as a precursor to Harry Potter's more lavish brand of kid-wizardry. Here you've got Tony (Ike Eisenmann) and sister Tia (Kim Richards), orphans unaware of their mysterious past, who are taken in by a nefarious liar (Ray Milland) seeking to exploit their supernatural powers. Populated by '70s stalwarts like Donald Pleasance and Eddie Albert (the later playing the kids' grown-up accomplice, unwittingly rescuing them from Milland), this lightweight Disney fare is perfect for kids under 10, with such enticements as a clever cat mascot named Winky (because he winks a lot), Tony's magical harmonica... and a Winnebago that flies! With a sci-fi climax, this popular hocus-pocus spawned a 1978 sequel (Return from Witch Mountain) that has proven similarly popular with kids. --Jeff Shannon
Review(s): DVD Escape to Witch Mountain (Special Edition)
This is A Very Cute Movie!
Escape to Witch Mountain is one of my favorite Disney movies. I first saw it when I was about ten years old and I really loved this movie. Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann played Tia and Tony, they are a sister and her brother and are living in an orphanage. Tony and Tia have magical powers and can do things like predict the future, communicate with animals move objects with their minds, etc, and it is big trouble for them when this man named Lucas Deranian played by Donald Pleasence from the Halloween movies sees them using their powers and he and his boss a greedy, wealthy and powerful tycoon named Aristotle Bolt played by Ray Milland who starred in the movie The Uninvited come up with a plan to pretend that Deranian is Tony and Tia's Uncle because the evil Mr. Bolt wants to use them to predict the future for him so he can make even more money and become more powerful and when Tony and Tia find out about this they escape and meet a man named Jason O'Day played by Eddie Albert from Green Acres who reluctantly helps them escape. This is a very cute movie and I highly recommend this DVD and it is very nice to see this movie in it's widescreen format instead of the edited the pan & scan format of TV and video tapes!

THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE AND I LOVE THE BONESS FEATURES. THE VALT DISNEY IS FOUR MOVIES UNDER THE NAME, BUT ALOT OTHERS NOT UNDER THE NAME MADE IT IN, INCLUDING THIS AND THE SEQULE!!!
Good Family Film
In this Disney Film, brother and sister Tony and Tia are orphaned at an early age and sent to live in an orphanage after their foster parents die. But Tony and Tia aren't like other children, they can read each other's minds, jump incredible heights, talk to animals, and summons objects with their mind. The siblings intrigue Aristotle Bolt who arranges to have them live in his house, hoping to use their power to make millions. Tony and Tia use their powers to escape and with the help of Jason O'Day, begin looking for friends and relatives using a map Tia found in her "star case". But Bolt isn't about to give up and begins chasing them, along with townspeople who think the children are witches from nearby Witch Mountain.
Escape To Witch Mountain is in some ways typical of many Disney Films made in the `60's and `70's, including the seemingly obligatory care chase, in which the bad guys always crash, but emerge from the crash unscathed. But this film is somewhat darker, beginning with the fact that the children have lost not only their parents and foster family, but Tia keeps flashing back to what seems to be a boating accident in which their uncle died. Also, Bolt is a scary power hungry villain.
Despite the touches of darkness, this is a good family film, although not for very young children. Unfortunately, today's kids might find the special effects somewhat lame, especially one involving a bag of flour floating in the air. But it's still a fun movie for the whole family to watch.

Bill Bixby plays a 19th-century gambler who inherits responsibility for three orphans, but the kids in turn have something of value: a huge gold nugget. This Disney film from 1975 is an enjoyable potboiler with its sentimentality under control and the accent on laughs, most of which are provided, not unexpectedly, by Tim Conway and Don Knotts as thieves who want to get their hands on the treasure. An easy, safe film for children. Here's today's trivia question: What Disney movie costars both colonels from television's M*A*S*H--that is, Henry Blake (McLean Stevenson) and Sherman Potter (Harry Morgan)? Heck, that's easy: 1978's The Cat from Outer Space, a family comedy about a feline extraterrestrial named Jake (voiced by actor Ronnie Schell, who also plays Sergeant Duffy). Eerily similar to the plot of Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, released four years later, Cat finds Jake stuck on Earth and in danger of being trapped here forever if his fellow space kitties can't rendezvous with him soon.
While a gruff Army general (Morgan) tries to scare up some answers about the whereabouts and agenda of the purring alien, Jake allies himself with an unorthodox scientist... When a mail-order apprentice witch (Angela Lansbury) is saddled with three sibling refugees from London during World War II, the outlook is grim. But the kids soon discover her secret and sign on for adventure in the name of England. With the aid of a magical bed, they track down her fraudulent headmaster (David Tomlinson) to find the spell that will aid the Allies. Fascinated that she has actually achieved results with his lessons, he joins forces. The quintet does battle with corrupt booksellers, animated-lion royalty, and, eventually, invading Germans. Songs include Lansbury's Oscar-nominated "The Age of Not Believing." This film is often compared to director Robert Stevenson's earlier effort, Mary Poppins, and for good reason. In addition to Tomlinson, the movies share a... More Info about this DVD Director(s): Robert Stevenson - Les Perkins DVD Release Date: Released the 20 March 2001 Usually ships in 24 hours

When a slightly cross-eyed Siamese cat named D.C. (Darn Cat) turns up with a wristwatch around his neck instead of a collar, it could be just the clue the FBI needs to crack a series of bank robberies in this lightweight comedy from Disney. The watch belongs to a bank teller who has been taken hostage. Dean Jones stars as the good-hearted FBI agent assigned to the case. Unfortunately, he is highly allergic to, you guessed it, cats. Hayley Mills is D.C.'s doting owner who hatches a hair-brained scheme to follow D.C.'s every move until he returns to the crooks' hideout where he got the wristwatch. After a lot of sneezing, slapstick, and comedic intrigue, the bank robbers are foiled, the hostage is safe, and everyone is happy. An impressive supporting cast of Frank Gorshin,...
