  • DVD Bingo

There was a man who had a dog, and Bingo was his name-o. This particular Bingo escapes from a cruel master in a circus and is adopted by a little boy, who is the son of a professional football place-kicker (David Rasche). The father happens to be allergic to dogs, so the boy keeps him hidden from the rest of the family. When Dad is traded from the Denver Broncos to the Green Bay Packers, the family unknowingly leaves Bingo behind. The mock-heroic dog (who is smarter than most of the family members) must track the family across several states and time zones before he's reunited with his trusting young master. A spoof of movies about dogs with amazing powers, this one is often slim pickings. The humor, which tends toward slapstick, is strictly hit-and-miss. This broad comedy will undoubtedly amuse the under-10 set, with its numerous potty and dog-poop jokes. --Marshall Fine

the first i saw this, i already liked it. nine years after, seeing it in hbo with my cousin, she too liked it, as well as our two little niece and nephew. it's hilarious and very, very entertaining. wish they can release this in dvd format for posterity. this is a movie where you will laugh starting from bingo's escape to the finish!

    Bizarre but good.

This is a bizarre movie but it is good. An abused dog runs away from the circus and a young boy finds him. The family isn't interested in keeping the dog and they are moving anyway (Dad is an NFL placekicker). They move and the dog sets off to follow his new friend. The movie focuses on the dog's adventures. The bizarre thing is that sometimes he's a normal dog and sometimes he seems to take on human qualities. By the way, the dog who plays Bingo is the real life mother of Maui, who played Murray on TV's "Mad About You."

    Bingo! Right on target.

I used to watch this movie all the time. Not so much because it's one of the greatest dog-centric films ever made, but just because of its pleasing nature. It's cute, it's funny, and charming, and entertaining. It doesn't go overboard in any of those areas, but has just enough of each to make it a nice movie to watch. Somewhat geared toward adults language-wise? Perhaps, yes. But there's nice acting from dogs and people alike and some memorable scenes (and, yes, some violent ones). But naturally, Bingo always comes through and saves the day. This is a fun family film.

    Fluke DVD

A trouble some pooch who has reaccuring dreams of being something else, something far greater.... A man. After a series of silly events he begins to take these dreams seriously and goes off on an adventure to find his family and his old life before..... HE DIED.

While the story is very touching and has a very good moral too it it was far too too long for me and seemed kinda cheesy at some pionts they kept on reinfasizing reincarnation, reincarnation, reincarnation. It was interesting but at one piont it became very boring and I lost intrest. I have only been able to sit through it one time, because of this. It jusy seemed like the man was really in a coma and that at one piont that he was gonna wake up from this long boring nightmare but he never did.

A great... More Info about this DVD

    Local Boys DVD

The story is predictable, the writing sophomoric. Yet I still managed to enjoy it, and I appreciated the performances given by Mark Harmon and especially Jeremy Sumpter as "Skeet". Jeremy is an amazing young actor (check him out in "Frailty" if you haven't already) who brings a natural charm to his character -- he never seems forced or phony. Might even bring a tear to your eye in a couple scenes . ;) Mark Harmon is quite the pro at this kind of thing and a pleasure to watch. Same for most of the rest of the cast. As I said, this is not a masterpiece, but it's an OK little surf-oriented movie with nice cinematography and music, and a decent enough story to hold my interest. More Info about this DVD

    Good Boy! DVD

A young boy named Owen learns the startling truth about dogs: They're actually from outer space, sent here to rule mankind. A canine agent from the star Sirius (voiced by Matthew Broderick) gets rescued from the pound by Owen (Liam Aiken) and named Hubble. As Hubble desperately tries to train a motley crew of dogs from Owen's neighborhood to behave like conquerors before the Greater Dane arrives and decides the planet's fate, the outer space pooch slowly bonds with Owen and discovers why dogs may have joined forces with humans instead of dominating them. Good Boy! will charm dog lovers in particular, but the movie has enough clever touches to engage most viewers, and it manages a sweet tone without turning cloyingly saccharine. Featuring the voices of Carl Reiner, Brittany Murphy,... More Info about this DVD

    Paulie DVD

The human beings are almost as interesting as the title character in this surprisingly subtle and engaging film about the cross-country adventures of a smart-mouthed parrot. As director John Roberts deploys the footage, the bird becomes a vivid personality; every quizzical twist of his head is oddly expressive. The people who interact with Paulie are a quirky and interesting bunch as well, and the casting is topnotch: Tony Shalhoub (The Siege) as a Russian immigrant janitor, Cheech Marin as an open-hearted mariachi musician, and Gena Rowlands as a widowed painter in a footloose Winnebago--all are vividly eccentric individuals, memorable in their own right. There are some tired swipes at the cold-blooded meanies of Big Science (beady-eyed researcher Bruce Davison has Paulie clapped... More Info about this DVD
