Review(s): DVD Spin City - Michael J. Fox's All-Time Favorites, Vol. 1
Best comic serie ever !
Yes, I think Spin City was the best funny sitcom ever. It's one of the very few clever humor series I've seen in half a century of TV watching. I love Seinfeld, Goodness Gracious Me was hilarious and very smart too, but Spin City never failed to make me laugh my head out and still feel intelligent !
But... the production who decided to issue but a few chosen episodes on a couple of DVD must have been the dummiest bunch of executives to work for a TV channel. They probably got fired since such a stupid decision certainly ended up in a financial failure (who wants a best of of the best ?) but the guys still in place probably decided not to issue the complete seasons because these didn't sell !
So here I am, frustrated as, I guess, thousands of Spin City fans who will hope and wait forever until some smart person is hired and decides to give us what we want.
Come on guys, is it so hard to understand ? What you want is our money, and we're ready and willing to give it to you if only you would sell us the complete seasons. Wouldn't it be a smart move to make ?
I just hope you do, because I will never, I repeat : NEVER spend a single dime on any of these best of DVDs. I'd rather wait for a rerun and tape the whole thing than to approve this terrible mistake by buying it.
Great series, but where are the other episodes??
I'd like to back up the other reviews in here and say that I just LOVE the Spin City series, and it's great to have some dvd releases of it.
But I can't imagine, in my wildest dreams, why it's been decided to only release a few select episodes!?!
Bring out the complete seasons!!! (please *lol)
Surely I can decide myself which are the best episodes?!
Disappointing! Cause even though I love this show, its highly presumptuous to assume the Mr J Fox will know which episodes I'll prefer better than I do myself - what a cheek. This lacks something simply for that reason, thank god other comedy releases give you the benefit of ALL the episodes. I'm hoping that they'll eventually release in that format, and i'd certainly then give it a lot more stars.

When Just Shoot Me debuted on NBC on a Tuesday night (following Frasier) in 1997, the spirited sitcom had the feel of an instant winner. The casting alone was an inspired blend of talent from uniquely interesting sources: George Segal, the veteran actor best known for comic performances in such 1970s film classics as Blume in Love and California Split, was certainly overdue for a hit. Laura San Giacomo, a strong and intriguing presence for a decade in a number of key movies (sex, lies, and videotape, Pretty Woman) promised good things as the series' lead player. Wendie Malick, the former model turned ubiquitous supporting player on the likes of NYPD Blue and Seinfeld, had left an especially indelible impression on HBO's long-running... With its shaky five-season tenure (1995-99) including a dozen different time slots and only one major Emmy nomination, the outstanding NewsRadio is the atypical sitcom of its age. While most of the '90s sitcoms were based around a single big name talent (Jerry Seinfeld, Candice Bergen, Drew Carrey), NewsRadio came from the same stock from earlier shows Taxi and Cheers: a relatively unknown cast that rarely ventured away from the place of business. These first 29 episodes (7 as a mid-season replacement the first year), deliver a consistently hilarious show about the day-to-day life with the eccentric staff of New York radio station WNYX. Creator Paul Simms (The Larry Sanders Show) built a talented cast relying on expert delivery and character traits... One of the zaniest and bawdiest shows to hit network primetime in the 1980s, Night Court starred Harry Anderson as the Mel Tormé-loving, magic-playing, too-young judge Harry Stone presiding over the night beat of New York. Joining him were lecherous assistant district attorney Dan (John Larroquette), bald Bunyanesque bailiff Bull (Richard Moll), uptight court clerk Lana (Karen Austin), earnest public defender Elizabeth (Paula Kelly), and grizzled bailiff Selma (Selma Hacker).
In between cases involving ladies of the evening, a derelict who thinks he's Santa, and sparring spouses, the court staff spends most of their spare time trying to figure out the judge's age and background, making jokes about Bull's imposing appearance, or, in Dan's case, propositioning any woman... The DVD release of Murphy Brown is particularly newsworthy. There had never been anyone on primetime quite like Murphy, the star investigative reporter for the Washington, D.C.-based television news magazine F.Y.I. As created by Diane English and embodied by Candice Bergen, Murphy was, in English's words, "Mike Wallace in a dress." On camera, she was tough, smart, and relentless. Off camera she was intriguingly flawed. In the pilot episode, her character returns to work following a stay at the Betty Ford Clinic. Over the course of the season, her sobriety is supremely tested by the chaotic goings-on inside the funniest newsroom since WJM on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Murphy must contend with an unending parade of ill-suited, stressed-out secretaries (a running joke... I used to not like Frasier matter of fact I used to change the channel everytime when I was in early teens. Luckily through one of my friends who had the first season and had nothing to do I decided to give it a chance and it was great. I Became fan of Frasier and hooked. The sixth season is great with great triumph for Niles who finally get divorced. The show is great if enjoy saucy, sassy, and witty comedy this show has it.
