I am delighted to see the universal intolerance voiced here with SD's little DVD of one of the most important of the 1970's Italian Sex & Horror Show movies. THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE is a total classic, with a showcase appearance by Erika "LEGS" Blanc as a stripper involved with a plot to drive a wealthy young duke out of his skull. Classy, filled with great colorful sets, "cool" music and a fabulous modernist look, this is a Giallo that really isn't a Giallo at all & sort of mocks that specific sub-sect of Italian horror by having the killer wearing yellow gardening gloves [Giallo is Italian for "yellow"] instead of the usual sexy black variety.
With that said, you'll be better served buying one of the cheapo fullframe releases from Alpha Video or on one of the Brentwood... More Info about this DVD Director(s): Emilio Miraglia DVD Release Date: Released the 23 September 2003 Usually ships within 24 hours

It's hard to believe the significant number of EXORCIST rip-offs that the Italians produced so shortly after that U.S. hit's release. Here's another one. If the title "The Eerie Midnight Horror Show" confuses you, that's because it was created by some video marketing genius who thought it might lure fans of "Rocky Horror" or perhaps sound like some sort of long-appreciated cult classic. The title was created for an early 80s video release, but the film is known in Italy as THE SEXORCIST and showed up in theaters here as THE TORMENTED--not to be confused with the early 60s Bert I. Gordon film.
Like in several of the Italian takes on the William Friedkin original, the protagonist is an attractive young woman named Danila (sexy Stella Carnacina), an art student who nabs a 15th Century... AKA "Horror Castle", this rarely seen German-Italian horror film has been handled well and is a find for collectors. Dubbed in English and directed by Antonio Margheriti ("Castle of Blood"), it concerns a new bride (Rosana Podesta) discovering the eyeless corpse of a woman inside an ancient iron maiden (the "Virgin") in her husband's ancestral castle on the Rhine. Told by everyone it was just a nightmare, she suspects something more and sure enough discovers Christopher Lee (as Erik), a war disfigured handyman, acting suspiciously around some antique surgical instruments. Later, the sinister housekeeper balefully informs her that an infamous ancestor, "the Punisher", is back and bent on torturing and killing "shameless women". There is a mysterious costumed and hooded figure running... More Info about this DVD Director(s): Antonio Margheriti DVD Release Date: Released the 30 March 2004 Usually ships within 3 to 4 days

When American audiences first saw Mario Bava's 1963 horror trilogy, it wasn't the same film he had made in Italy. Finding it too terrifying for kids (imagine that!), AIP pictures trimmed it of violence and intensity, rescored it, and renamed it in order to cash in on the success of Black Sunday. New tongue-in-cheek introductions with costar Boris Karloff were added, the segments were rearranged, and one segment was completely rewritten in the dubbing. It was a good film even in its butchered form, but the original Italian version is excellent. The correctly ordered stories begin with "The Telephone," a gripping, ornate thriller that anticipates Bava's later "giallo" horror classics such as Blood and Black Lace. (In the American version, lesbian overtones were removed and...
