DVD Casper (Full Screen Special Edition)
This 1995 family film tries to put a fun spin on the story of a paranormalist and widower (Bill Pullman) who moves into a new house with his daughter (Christina Ricci) and meets up with the ghost of a dead little boy. Based on the comic book about Casper the friendly ghost, the film is a dreary series of awkward interactions between live actors and computer effects, and you can almost see Pullman and Ricci reconsidering the project while on camera. A few cameo appearances from uncredited stars help things a bit. But there's no way, based on this film, that one could have guessed that its director, Brad Silberling, would go on to make the exceptional drama City of Angels. --Tom Keogh
Review(s): DVD Casper (Full Screen Special Edition)
Good.
I like The Caspar The Friendy ghost cartoons, I watched them when I was little and I saw this live action movie on viedo tape and though I prefer the cartoons this is good too and I like the cast, especially Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci and I liked the Caspar character.
Movies for adults and children
i first saw this movie when i was younger and i still love it today. there are so many touching and comical moments that children and well as their parents can enjoy. i'm sure this film will become a classic in years to come. i hope everyone who has not seen this movie will see it soon so that they too will know of this wonderful family movie. it's the best children's movie that's come out in years.
Vaccuum Scene
I can't believe Fatso gets sucked up in the vaccuum. I mean, come on, Fatso is probably the fattest thing I've ever seen, so how could he fit inside it? And also, what the devil did Fatso do to deserve it? All Fatso did was jab at Dr. Harvey with his weapon, but missed, and tickle him. That's all he did. And Stretch and Stinky harm Dr. Harvey. Stretch cuts off Dr. Harvey's trousers, and Stinky makes the place stink. Poor Fatso, he gets sucked up in the vaccuum all for nothing. He should get free pizzas and fast food 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I love Fatso He is a major inspiration to me. I'mgoing to avenge him by being just like him.

This big, fat theatrical bomb has a lot going for it. There's the three leads, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, playing three resurrected witches who wreak havoc on Salem, Massachusetts, 300 hundred years after they were hung. There's music, special effects, and magic. There's a surprisingly horror-filled plot. Whoops, hold up on that last one. It's probably the extremes that this film goes to (displaying a Disney label), such as the witches sucking the life out of a little girl in the first five minutes, that put the brakes on any success for Hocus Pocus. Older children, however, in the 8 and up range should get a kick out of all the weird goings-on. It's a good measure of Halloween thrills and chills. --Keith SimantonMore Info about this DVD Director(s): Kenny Ortega DVD Release Date: Released the 04 June 2002 Usually ships in 24 hours

Although I enjoyed the first CASPER movie the best, A SPIRITED BEGINNING is just as good. It's pretty different from the first movie, too. There are hardly any similarities except for maybe the ghosts. In this one, Casper is back and this time he comes across an 11-year-old boy who is very interested in ghosts and the Supernatural. So interested, that some people may think he's obsessed with the stuff. His father, unfortunately, doesn't seem to have enough time to spend with him because he's always rushing around...working. The boy is the only one in town who isn't afraid of Casper and they end up becoming friends. Casper and his three uncles still live in the mansion...but the boy's father is making plans with the governer of the town to tear old mansion down to turn the land into a... The creepiest thing about Casper Meets Wendy is the title characters' romance--bashful, cutie pie Casper shouldn't be prone to weaknesses of the flesh (he is, after all, a ghost). And he's entirely too childlike to take up with a witch even of Wendy's decidedly non-wicked order. Still, sparks fly in this madcap jumble of a film, and so do the sort of zippy one-liners and presto-type magic tricks that'll keep kids from 6 to 12 spellbound. The plot is paper-thin: head honcho warlock Desmond Spellman (George Hamilton) is obsessed with offing Wendy (Hilary Duff) after an oracle proclaims her powers to be on the upswing. He sends two goons to capture her at the Sunny Brite resort, where she and her haggish aunts (Teri Garr, Cathy Moriarty, and Shelley Duvall) are in hiding and where... Director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) brings his distinctly cartoonish sensibility to this feature film version of the old Charles Addams comic strip. Anjelica Huston was born to play Morticia Addams, matriarch of the ghoulish Addams clan, while the late Raul Julia is a very agreeable, lusty Gomez. But it's Christina Ricci who arguably steals the show as their stone-faced daughter, Wednesday. As is often the problem with adaptations of comics or television shows, somehow an original story has to be implemented that doesn't clutter things up. But clutter is an issue here as the script gets tangled on a lame plot concerning efforts to steal the Addams' house and fortune. Still, it's fun to see an ideal cast reanimate an old favorite. --Tom KeoghMore Info about this DVD Actor(s): Anjelica Huston - Raul Julia - Christopher Lloyd Director(s): Barry Sonnenfeld DVD Release Date: Released the 22 February 2000 Usually ships in 24 hours

Since the film debut of "Casper the Friendly Ghost" in 1945, the Casper franchise, which has been trying to put a happy spin on the paranormal, has received a mixed bag of reviews. There's no doubt the wide-eyed little ghost is endearing, but his heyday may have ended with his series in Harvey Comics. In this direct-to-video animated movie, the haunted world of spooks meets the happy spirit of Christmas--a faulty premise to begin with. The plot gets even more absurd when Kibosh, supreme ruler of all ghosts, declares that Casper's "scare quota" is way down. To avoid serious repercussions, Casper must scare at least one person before Christmas Day, or he will be banished to the dark side. Talk about a merry holiday tale! To force the fear factor, Kibosh catapults Casper and the Ghostly Trio... More Info about this DVD DVD Release Date: Released the 31 October 2000 Usually ships in 24 hours
