Seeing On Any Sunday when it was released, was an event of monumental importance for me and my family. My father was a professional Flat track racer in the Midwest for over 45 years, and he only recently retired from racing at the age of 63. I literally grew up with the racers and their families in this film and I had the priviedge of being my dads motorcycle mechanic during each race we were at. I got my AMA mechanics lisence at the age of 16 and this allowed me to be in the "PITS" with all the racers and their teams. I was the only girl mechanic at that time, and I remember very well waiting in line before the races with Dick Mann on one side of me and Jay Springsteen on the other...... this movie brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. I miss those days so much.... The life of a... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Steve McQueen Director(s): Bruce Brown DVD Release Date: Released the 12 October 1999 Usually ships in 24 hours

I wanted to see On Any Sunday again but it wasn't available to rent anywhere. I'd say it's worth buying 1 of what I want rather than renting 2 time-passers. I might have skipped the 'revisited' and 'more' if I had known they were unused footage mixed with reunion interviews. I wanted a post-2K update on motorcycles and such but seeing the riders 'old' was interesting so I can't call it a total disappointment. Don't be surprised if you feel a dry, tickling sensation in the back of your throat after watching the slam-bang racing documentary Dust to Glory. It's probably from the lingering sand and silt spewed from the knobby wheels of an array of machines that skitter from one end of the Baja Peninsula to the other. Using 90 cameras in a variety of formats, director Dana Brown captures the giddy danger of the race with truly visceral force. In 1967, a few California thrill-seekers had the Eureka spirit to take their homemade race cars for some whooping-up in the wide-open land just a few hours away. Since then, the Baja 1000 has turned into a party-fueled happening that's more akin to Burning Man than the Indy 500. It's billed as the world's longest nonstop race, running point-to-point... After filming a series of successful surfing documentaries, filmmaker Bruce Brown turned his attention to motorcycle racing and shot On Any Sunday, which attracted a wide audience and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1972 as Best Documentary. In this look back at the phenomenon of On Any Sunday, Brown's son Dana interviews racers who appeared in the original movie as well as people who fondly recall watching the film over and over during its theatrical run. The elder Brown, with his trademark understated sense of humor, talks about the eccentric characters who became involved in the film, including movie star and biker Steve McQueen, who helped provide financial backing. Outtakes from the original documentary are shown, including some unused scenes featuring... Malcolm Smith revisited. What On Any Sunday - Revisited left out was a revisit with the legendary Malcolm Smith. Still great unseen OAS footage and updates with the characters from the original including comments from Kenny Roberts.
It might seem a rehash but it's a fitting tribute 30 years later.
Watch On Any Sunday and OAS - Revisited first and it all fits into place. More Info about this DVD Actor(s): On Any Sunday - Malcolm Smith DVD Release Date: Released the 11 December 2001 Usually ships within 2 to 3 weeks
