DVD Vegas Vacation (Widescreen Edition)
Check your brain at the door, because it's time once again for a dim-witted visit to Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and his happy-go-lucky family, who hit the Vegas strip for this vacation. (The kids who originally played the Griswold children have been replaced.) The Griswold exploits in the casinos are good for a few embarrassed chuckles, especially when Mrs. Griswold (Beverly D'Angelo) gets onstage with Wayne Newton for a truly mind-altering rendition of Minnie Ripperton's ear-piercing 1970s hit "Loving You." And because he scored so many low-brow points as the lame-brained cousin in the original National Lampoon's Vacation, Randy Quaid is back to cause a lot of trouble, while Chevy Chase is reduced to uninspired slapstick and endless puns involving the word damn. In other words, Vegas Vacation is the kind of comedy that can convince you that civilization is doomed. --Jeff Shannon
Review(s): DVD Vegas Vacation (Widescreen Edition)
good movie, unrealistic, but aren't all vacations
This movie was very "fun" and for anyone who is crazy about Las Vegas it's great to watch. It was meant to be funny, it's not rocket science by any means and it is far fetched....but it's Chevy Chase acting the way h's supposed to on the Vacation movies. Everytime he gambles he loses all his money. His son keeps on winning car's his wife hang out with Wayne Nution, his daughter becomes a dancer.
ALL BETS ARE OFF
The "Vacation" franchise has had some hits and some misses, and this one falls into the latter categories. The Griswolds go off on a vacation in Las Vegas, and what happens there is so minimal it's a wonder why they even bothered to make a movie. Chevy Chase seems tired and weary as Clark, this time finding himself becoming a gambling addict particularly at the mercy of the blackjack dealer, a whimsical Wallace Shawn. Meanwhile, wife Beverly D'Angelo finds herself a wannabe companion for a quietly lecherous Wayne Newton and the kids go off in their own directions, the son becoming somewhat of a mini-Mafia man and daughter a caged dancer. Randy Quaid returns as redneck cousin Eddie, who has become so predictable his character is merely a caricature of himself. The movie struggles for its few laughs and is far beneath the manic silliness of the earlier Lampoon vacations.
Wonderful Movie
I just purchased this movie from walmart for 4.88 in their new bargin bin (besides their popular 5.50 bin) and I think they may still have it there so save yourself shipping
After winning a tour package in a game show, the bickering Griswald family carve a trail of destruction through England (where they knock over Stonehenge), France, Germany, and Italy. Somehow Ellen (Bevery D'Angelo), the mom, gets kidnapped by gangsters, leading to a car chase that reunites the family, despite their differences. It's hard to believe that National Lampoon's European Vacation is only the second of the Vacation movies; it has the exhausted pallor of the last of a long series of sequels, drained of all zest or original ideas. The charmless smirk of Chevy Chase, mechanical in its idiocy, hangs over European Vacation like a death mask. It's hard to believe that this hack was once the funny and sexy hero of Foul Play. D'Angelo keeps her chin up and... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Chevy Chase - Beverly D'Angelo Director(s): Amy Heckerling DVD Release Date: Released the 02 April 2002 Usually ships in 24 hours

Vacation paved the way for the John Hughes movie dynasty of the 1980s. Written by Hughes (who would go on to write, direct, and/or produce The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Uncle Buck, Home Alone, and so on) and directed by Harold Ramis (Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, Stuart Saves His Family), the first Vacation movie introduces us to the all-American Griswold family: father Clark (Chevy Chase), mother Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo), son Rusty (future Hughes staple Anthony Michael Hall), and daughter Audrey (Dana Barron). They all pile into the car for a cross-country road trip to Walley World, stopping along the way to view the world's biggest ball of twine. John Candy, Imogene Coca, and Randy Quaid (as yokel Cousin... More Info about this DVD Actor(s): Chevy Chase - Beverly D'Angelo DVD Release Date: Released the 19 August 2003 Usually ships in 24 hours

You know exactly what you're getting in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: another goofball, slapstick comedy of chaos and catastrophe with Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and family. This time, there's no traveling involved: Clark and Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) prepare for a nice Christmas with the kids (played by none other than Juliette Lewis and Roseanne star Johnny Galecki), when their home is invaded by backwoods cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) and his brood, along with assorted other crazy and/or stuffy relatives. Complications, of course, are inevitable. The film is preceded by National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) and National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985) and followed by National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation (1997). Directed by Jeremiah Chechik, who... More Info about this DVD Director(s): Jeremiah S. Chechik DVD Release Date: Released the 07 October 2003 Usually ships in 24 hours

George Roy Hill (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) directed this 1988 comedy that gives star Chevy Chase one of his better-quality vehicles. Chase plays a New York sportswriter who turns to the country for a simpler, happier way of living. He discovers, of course, that things don't work out that way. Hill's usual touch with comic timing, tone, and dialogue give Chase a rare career opportunity to be part of something a little classier than most of his other movies; but Funny Farm nevertheless has its share of so-what gags. Still, the film's overall tone is winning and laid-back, and it makes for nice escapist fare. --Tom KeoghMore Info about this DVD Director(s): George Roy Hill DVD Release Date: Released the 18 May 1999 Usually ships in 24 hours

Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are reunited in this popular 1993 comedy, in which the Odd Couple veterans play John and Max (respectively), a pair of elderly bachelors whose lifelong friendship is based on mutual aggravation and constant bickering. Their competitive natures kick into overdrive when the beautiful Ariel (Ann-Margret) moves into their otherwise snowbound Minnesota neighborhood. She takes a liking to John, but after a lover's spat she also gives Max a chance at romance, and the long-time buddies reach a peak of grumpy rivalry. It's a stretch to think that Ann-Margret's dating choices would be limited to a pair of grouchy codgers, but sarcastic attitude and snappy dialogue made this a surprise hit (followed by a 1995 sequel), and Burgess Meredith adds plenty of spice as...
