    What A Treasure

Last weekend I stumbled on this movie and absolutely loved it. It has my personal favorite themes - love and religion. Unlike most people, I was not familiar with Naomi Watts, and did not recognize Tim Daly here - both of them did an incredible acting job. Tim Daly's performance was outstanding.

The sexual tension in this movie, and how everything was handled was done so well and is very memorable. I will definitely get the book and will order the DVD, since this movie is from 2002, so is not likely to be seen on television often.

Of course at first it reminded me so much of another favorite movie, "Witness," which I have seen many times. But this movie certainly is more fulfilling in the romance department.

(That must be why they did not use the name "Rachel" from the book in this movie version, because that is the same name as the Amish woman in "Witness." Not to mention that the male lead in "Witness" is also named John.)

If you have any interest in Amish-type people, in themes related to moral/religious dilemmas, or to a REALLY good, absorbing love story and a just plain well-told tale, then do not miss this movie.

    Well done...... but

A well done movie that did not get the attention it should have.
TIm Daly and Naomi Watts (how did they make her look so plain ?) do a fine job in this slightly cliched but still good story.

BUT........ I must admit, I was wondering how much better this movie could have been if it was made back in Clint Eastwood's prime and the "gunslinger" recovered to be a bit more powerful and menacing than the character played by Daly.

My favorite movie, ever, bar none

No actor could have done the excellent job that Tim Daly did in this movie. I have watched it probably 40 times and am still watching it. It isn't just one of those great movies that you fast forward thru to the good scenes; they are all great scenes. Just watching the expressions on his face keeps me enthralled. His character is the kind of man every woman dreams of but, sadly, never finds. Why don't they make more movies like this one?

    Straight From the Heart DVD

I just love this movie. I saw it first on the Hallmark Channel when I was channel surfing, then I purchased the DVD. Each time I've watched it, I find I like it more and more. However, I would have loved to have seen more story/character development and a little more romance, perhaps even a wedding between Tyler & Jordan (reason for 4 & not 5 stars). For instance, the scene outside the barn after Tyler has turned away & ran from Jordan, he says ".. I never expected this" It's not clear at first exactly what it is he wasn't expecting. You realize later that he never expected to fall in love with her. Would be great if a sequel follows!??? More Info about this DVD

    Seven Girlfriends DVD

With so many romantic comedies revolving around eternally adolescent men with self-centered philosophies and terminal commitment problems, it's kind of nice to see one of them take stock of himself. Tim Daly, a chef with unconventional methods (try his dishwasher fish), embarks on a quest through past loves with sincere questions about why things didn't work out. Boyish Daly is charming as the rogue romantic, and his tour through broken affairs gives some fine actresses comic-showcase scenes--Jamie Gertz, Laura Leighton, Elizabeth Peña, Mimi Rogers, and Katy Selverstone among them. Olivia d'Abo is his current flame, a would-be psychic restaurateur who sets out after him, and Melora Hardin is an old gal pal who just may be his best chance at a fresh start. This isn't quite the... More Info about this DVD

    Love's Enduring Promise DVD

Set in a frontier world of bonnets and one-room schoolhouses, Love's Enduring Promise follows a headstrong young teacher named Missie (January Jones, Bandits), the daughter of Clark and Marty Davis (Dale Midkiff and Katherine Heigl) from previous prairie romance Love Comes Softly. After Clark injures himself in a woodcutting accident, the family farm is in danger of failing--until a handsome young stranger (Logan Bartholomew) helps out. Missie finds herself drawn to this man, but the intelligence and graciousness of young railroad magnate (Mackenzie Austin, How to Deal) appeals to a side of her that yearns to go beyond the hills and valleys of her childhood. What could be romantic froth becomes a quiet, well-paced, and thoughtful love story, thanks to a solid... More Info about this DVD
