Review(s): DVD Anne of Green Gables - The Sequel
    It's Very Good!

Anne of Avonlea, also called Anne of Green Gables the Sequel is a wonderful movie and just as good as the first movie! In this movie Anne leaves home to take a job teaching English to some snotty rich girls who give her a hard time but she soon wins them over and soon Morgan Harris the father of one of her students falls for Anne and courts her. The father played by Frank Converse is quite a bit older then Anne and my aunt kept rooting for him but having read the books and knowing who Anne's true love is I of course rooted for her beloved Gilbert. Megan Follows once again gave a wonderful performance as Anne and I highly recommend this movie and also the first movie. The only movie in this series that I was disappointed in was the third movie the Continuing story but the first two movies are very good! I could be wrong but I don't recall the character Morgan Harris being in the books and I think he may have been an added character to the movie. I do think that the actor playing him was quite handsome in a rugged sort of way but Jonathan Crombie who played Gilbert was cute too.

    The movie was magnificent

Growing up as a child, I have watched this movie, with my grandmother, over and over again, along with Anne of Green Gables. Normally you can't find a sequel that lived up to the first movie, but this one broke that barrier. It lived up to every imagination that you came across in the first one. It made me laugh and cry time and time again. I recommend it to everyone. The acting was beautiful, along with the setting. The movies didn't follow the books to the tee but they were written perfectly all the same. I have watched these movies since i was little and now that I'm fifteen I'm finally going to buy them. I just got the books for Christmas last year. The third movie (Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story) just aired on PBS the last two weeks, and it was great too. It didn't follow the book at all, but i wouldn't have changed a thing. It's too bad that Colleen Dewhurst didn't live to be in the last one, she would have done a great performance. They were all great.

For anyone who loves to laugh, cry and be inspired these movies are definitely for you. (Young or Old)

    An excellent sequel

If you like Anne of Green Gables you have to have the sequel. It is excellent.

Anne Of Green Gables - The Continuing Story DVD

In a departure from L.M. Montgomery's book series, this third TV movie jumps ahead to World War I and puts Anne and her beloved Gilbert smack in the middle of it. Instead of marrying Gilbert after her teaching days--as she does in the books--Anne spends a disillusioning year with him in New York City, and then the couple quickly marries before the good doctor ships out to France. (In the book Rilla of Ingleside, Anne's sons go to war and her youngest daughter is separated from her sweetheart.) Impetuous as ever, Anne joins the Red Cross and crosses the pond to track down her husband when his letters are returned unread. What follows is an adventure that takes her through battle zones--where the bodies pile up faster than you can say Saving Private Ryan--and on to... More Info about this DVD

This DVD included the first two episodes of "Road to Avonlea" the TV series, or better known in the U.S. as "Avonlea", as aired on the Disney Channel in the 1990's. A touching and family-friendly series about a little rich girl who moves to Prince Edward Island to live with her relatives when her father is accused of embezzlement in his own company. The adventures that this little girl Sara Stanley has with her cousins, (the "King" family) are hilarious and heart-warming! This is definately worth checking out!! More Info about this DVD

Anne of Green Gables (Classic 1934) DVD

I love the Anne Shirley books by L.M. Montgomery and this is the 1934 black and white version of Anne Of Green Gables and while the 1986 Canadian miniseries remake starring Megan Follows is definitely better this is also a great movie! I read that actress Dawn O'Day found the character of Anne Shirley so charming and delightful and a kindered spirit that she changed her name to Anne Shirley, not sure if she legally changed it to Anne Shirley or just used it as her stage name but all I know is that she was splendid in this movie and really captured the charm and spunk of Anne that L.M. Montgomery created in her superb novels! The actress who played Marilla though giving a fine performance wasn't quite as good as Colleen Dewhurst but then who could possibly be a better Marilla then her?... More Info about this DVD
