A competent tap dance teacher shows wannabes various dance steps while voice over narration (spoken in a slight European accent) explains techniques and movements. The instructor stands on a raised dance floor, initially facing viewers before turning her back so the camera can record her foot movements. The steps are repeated four times and the beat is counted out. Music accompanies the fourth repeat. Viewers can choose beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels with 15 steps included in each. Shuffles, flaps, slides, paddle rolls, trills, rolling steps, riffs, and pull-backs are among the demonstrated steps. The DVD also features a tap dance dictionary and review lessons. DVD Learn To Swing Dance (3 Hours of Instruction from Beginner to Advanced) DVD

I started dancing about 6 months ago. I was really excited about the dance. It is fun and energetic! Well, I had to move and could no longer take the local swing classes I was attending. So, I bought this tape. Just comparing them to the professional swing dancers at a swing camp I went to in California, their knowledge was minimal and sloppy. Overall, I was disappointed with the video. I did though find videos later that the professional at that camps made. They were wonderful. Overall, if your looking for a tape that teaches you a style that is good for dancing to very RETRO music and you are NOT expecting to make swing dancing a long-term hobby, I recommend this video. But, if you want to dance to the good ole big band music and lindy like they did in the 40's, I recommend a different... More Info about this DVD

Back in the 1950's when I was a youngster, I admired the way in which tap dancers made their steps seem effortless. My dream was to take tap dancing lessons, with real dancing shoes. However, since my parents were unable to afford lessons nor to buy tap shoes, I tried to copy the steps that I had seen on T.V.. However, leather-soled shoes on a wooden floor do not produce an authentic sound.
A few weeks ago, while shopping for shoes in a popular chain store, I saw a sign that stated that if you buy one pair you get 50% off the price of a second pair of shoes. Since I had already selected the first pair, I wanted to find a second pair. Much to my amazement, they had a section of tap dance shoes! Most were in children's sizes. Instant Belly Dancer: A Crash Course in Bellydance, Vol.2 - Hipwork Plus DVD

i purchased this dvd along with the volume 1 dvd, and it was a waste of my time and money. not only were most of the moves hard to follow, they were too oriented to the club scene and not bellydance, not to mention neon is a very scary looking lady! the movement diagramming that sounds so helpful in other reviews was actually kind of confusing. if you are first starting out and have never seen belly dancing before, this dvd set might be acceptable, but a better use of your money is to enroll in some lessons in your hometown if you can (they have helped me tremendously!) or to try ANYTHING by Veena and Neena--they are much easier on the eye than neon is AND they teach you basic moves and even basic choreography.
